Methods are disclosed for manufacture of test elements for detecting at least one analyte in a body fluid, where the test elements include a housing having at least one base element and at least one cover element. The methods include providing the base element, and mounting the cover element to the base element with an adhesive, wherein the adhesive contacts at least one test field of the cover element such that the adhesive is interposed between the test field and the base element and at least partially covers the test field. The test elements also include at least one fluid channel formed within the housing, where the the fluid channel includes a capillary region and a measurement region. The capillary region and the measurement region have differing aspect ratios. The at least one test field has at least one test chemical, where the test chemical is adapted to change at least one optically measurable property in the presence of the analyte.

Test elements are disclosed for detecting at least one analyte in a body fluid, where the test elements include a housing having at least one base element and at least one cover element. The test elements also include at least one fluid channel formed within the housing, where the fluid channel includes a capillary region and a measurement region. The capillary region and the measurement region have differing aspect ratios. The cover element includes at least one test field having at least one test chemical, where the test chemical is adapted to change at least one optically measurable property in the presence of the analyte. In addition, the cover element is mounted to the base element via at least one adhesive that contacts the test field.

A method for producing an analytical tape, in particular a lancet tape, is proposed. The analytical tape is designed for being used in an analytical testing device with at least a sample-taking function. In the method, at least one supporting tape is provided in a continuous process. A plurality of lancet elements are successively applied directly to the supporting tape at at least one application point.

To position a lancet in the usage position, the control unit stops the conveying facility upon the carrier tape moving a positioning distance. The length of the positioning distance depends on the distance between the lancet to be positioned and the detected position mark and is determined by the control unit.

Methods of producing an analysis spreading layer for absorbing a liquid to be analyzed, by: supplying a porous membrane having a bottom, a top and a thickness D, the size of the pores of the membrane increasing over its thickness D; cutting the membrane at a predefined distance, the spreading layer being a sublayer with a thickness d less than the starting thickness D, the pores of the spreading layer having a fluid connection to one another in such a manner that it is permeable to a liquid. The membrane surface is formed by removing a sublayer of the membrane being the liquid outlet side of the spreading layer. The mean size of the pores on the liquid outlet side is at least 1 &#x3bc;m.

The steps of the process include providing a tape comprising a plurality of lancets comprising a lancet tip and a lancet body, enveloping at least the lancet tip with at least one foil, whereby the at least one foil forms a first and a second portion that overlap at least partly, and sealing the at least one foil with a laser beam at least at the edges of the first and second portion of the overlapping foil.

An aqueous control liquid is provided that contains glucose at a known concentration and cyclodextrin. A method is also provided that binds a wetting agent from a region of a test element that comes into contact with a sample. The method includes contacting the region with a control liquid that has a substance selected from the group of cyclodextrin derivatives and dispersed materials having a specific surface of 100 m /g to over 1000 m /g. A method for controlling the function of a measuring system having test strips and a measuring instrument for the determination of glucose in liquid samples is provided that includes contacting the test strip with a control liquid containing glucose at a known concentration and at least one substance selected from the group consisting of cyclodextrins and cyclodextrin derivatives and detecting a signal caused by the glucose contained in the control liquid.
