A method for forming an auxiliary stack when a sheet stack is changed in a sheet delivery of a sheet-processing machine includes providing an auxiliary stack support for supporting the auxiliary stack during a non-stop stack change and multiple stop and separator elements disposed outside a stacking area in front of edges of the sheet stack to form a gap in a stream of sheets conveyed by a conveying system and released to fall onto the sheet stack. The sheet stack is lowered to form a gap for the auxiliary stack support, the stop elements for the front edge and the rear edge of the sheet stack are moved into a disengaged stand-by position before the main stack is lowered. For this purpose, the stop elements are equipped with remote-controllable actuating devices that are connected to a control unit. A device for forming an auxiliary stack is also provided.

A method for driving a satellite offset press, and a satellite offset press which, with little expenditure, permits multicolor printing in one pass. A satellite offset press, in which form cylinders and associated transfer cylinders are driven synchronously, while in each case segments located in the circumferential direction of the form cylinders and of the transfer cylinders and also of the transfer cylinders and of an impression cylinder interacting with the latter roll on one another in accurate register with a sheet held thereon, following each full revolution. The speed of the impression cylinder is reduced and increased again, so that the transfer cylinders lead by at least one segment length in the circumferential direction.

The feed system includes at least one oscillatingly moving pregripper and a drive device for the feed system, the pregripper being uncoupled from the drive device.

Sheet-fed printing machine and method of operation

A printing machine comprising a plurality of printing units (3) arranged in line one behind the other and an endless transport belt (4) for substrates to be printed, said transport belt running around, at least, two spaced-apart rollers (5, 6) and past said printing units. At least, two rollers (5, 6) are mounted on a coherent belt-carrying unit (9) from which, when being in a slack condition, said transport belt (4) may be stripped off. Furthermore, the printing machine features a drawer (24) which may be pulled out laterally and which is provided below said belt-carrying unit (9) as well as a holding device (11, 12, 13, 15, 16) holding said belt-carrying unit (9) and being switchable between, at least, two different conditions, in a first condition said holding device holding said belt-carrying unit in an operating position, and in a second condition said belt-carrying unit (9) resting loosely on said drawer (24). This permits a simple and quick belt changing.

Printing machine with a sheet-transport belt

A sheet-fed printing press includes a plurality of printing units disposed along a sheet-transport path. A transport apparatus (3, 33, 40, 50, 66, 78) is disposed along the sheet-transport path. The sheets are transported through the printing units along the sheet-transport path and, after recto-printing, they are returned along a return-transport path which extends essentially in an opposite direction to the sheet-transport path. The printing press is thus enabled to print recto-and-verso while having a very short structural length.

Method for supplying a printing unit of a printing press with ink which is solid at normal temperature includes supplying the printing unit with ink in the form of solid bodies, and melting the solid ink bodies in the printing unit and applying the ink in a molten state to a cylinder of the printing unit.

Method for supplying ink to a printing press

A printing press has a plurality of in-line printing units in which substrates are transported along a rectilinear transport path. The printing units include several recto printing units and several verso printing units disposed along the transport path. A transport system, which transports the substrates through the printing units along the straight transport path, includes a first transport apparatus through the recto printing units, and a second transport apparatus through the verso printing units. A feeder assembly feeds the substrates to be printed from a feeder pile to the transport system. The feed by the feeder also follows a straight path which is coplanar with the path through the printing units. It is thus possible to print not only bendable substrates, but also rigid and stiff substrates such as carton, plastic, sheet metal, glass, and the like. The system further includes a turning apparatus for turning the substrates between the recto printing units and the verso printing units.

Rubber-blanket cylinder engagement and disengagement device for a rotary printing press having a plate cylinder and an impression cylinder includes swivel arms whereon the rubber-blanket cylinder is journalled, the swivel arms being articulatedly connected to a frame of the rotary printing press, an actuating device for swivelling the swivel arms, and an adjustable stop device disposed at a side of the frame for limiting swivelling motion of the swivel arms so as to bring about a setting thereof in a rubber-blanket cylinder engagement position, the stop device having at least one supporting element formed with a large supporting surface by which the stop device cooperates with the rubber-blanket cylinder.

A device for the coupling and uncoupling of a printing unit, said printing unit, with its plate cylinder, being engaged with a blanket cylinder in a first position and being disengaged from said blanket cylinder in a second position. Further, the device can be configured so as to additionally serve for a printing press, having at least two printing units assigned to one blanket cylinder, to be variably operated with optimal results. This is achieved in that the printing unit can be brought into a third position, wherein it is disconnected from the drive. Also contemplated herein is a method for coupling printing stands to one another in a printing press.
