A vehicle seat includes a backrest and a seat part, at least one of which has a structural element with a cavity. At least one part of the cavity receives an insert in the region of a filling. The insert is connected to the structural element in a positively locking fashion at least with regard to one type of movement. The insert is bonded to the filling.

A vehicle seat includes a seat part having a seat substructure. The seat part is displaceable along a transverse axis with respect to the seat substructure and the seat part is at least partially swivelably about the transverse axis. The seat includes a displacement element having a displacement length, a fixed lower part and an upper part. A first longitudinal movement of the seat part and a first transverse movement of the seat part occurs along a first section of the adjustment length. A second longitudinal movement of the seat part and a second transverse movement of the seat part occurs along a second section of the adjustment length. The ratio of the first longitudinal movement to the first transverse movement differs from the ratio of the second longitudinal movement to the second transverse movement.

Safety device for a vehicle seat which is fixed inside a vehicle including lateral guides. The safety device consists of at least one safety rail fixed in the vehicle, in the region between the guides, and comprises associated securing mechanisms which are connected to the vehicle seat, and co-operate with the safety rail in a non-contact manner for regular loads applied to the seat, and in the event of irregular, especially accident-related deformations and/or movements in the region of the vehicle seat, engage with the safety rail in such a way that they block further deformation/displacements. A hinge joint for use in the seats of motor vehicles to permit changes of inclination of the back rest has a first leaf secured to the body supporting portion of the seat, a second leaf secured to the back rest and a composite shaft having an eccentric cylindrical portion turnably mounted in the first leaf and two coaxial conical portions flanking the eccentric portion and turnably mounting the second leaf. At least one conical portion has a cylindrical core of a metallic material and elastic sleeve surrounding the core and having a conical external surface. A diaphragm spring reacts against the shaft and urges the second leaf axially of the shaft against the first leaf, and a spur gear of the first leaf mates with an internal gear of the second leaf.

Apparatus for adjusting various parts of the seat in a motor vehicle has first and second adjustable units which receive motion from discrete first and second rotary driving elements in the form of gears or clutch sections. The driving elements flank an axially movable disc which has teeth or claws movable into engagement with the teeth or claws of the one or the other driving element in response to depression of a pushbutton which is surrounded by a hand wheel serving to rotate the selected driving element by way of a hollow shaft which non-rotatably carries the disc and surrounds an actuating member which transmits motion from the pushbutton to the disc. A locking device operates between the shaft and a pin which is reciprocable with the disc to releasably hold the disc in torque-transmitting engagement with the selected driving element.

A height adjustment arrangement for a motor vehicle seat has a plurality of pivotable supports each having one end portion arranged at a fixed height relative to a vehicle floor and another end portion hingedly connectable with a seat portion, and a plurality of pairs of separate supporting elements arranged so that each pair of the supporting elements is pivotably connected with a respective one of the pivotable supports. A first supporting element of each pair is mounted on the seat portion, whereas a second supporting element of the same pair is mounted at a fixed height relative to the vehicle floor.

A brake-type spring coupling for transmission gears for an adjuster comprises a shaft, a transfer cam rigidly secured to the shaft, a pair of follower segments freely rotatable about the shaft on each side of the transfer cam, a coupling cylindrical segment rotatable about the shaft to impinge against one of the follower segments, a brake drum surrounding the shaft and the supported cam, followers and coupling segments, a helical spring having its windings in frictional contact with the inner wall of the brake drum and having its end portions anchored in respective follower segments, an abutment surface formed in a lateral wall of the transfer cam to stop one of the follower segments and an adjustable ring segment secured to the other side of the transfer cam to stop the other follower segment.
