The present invention relates to various embodiments of a Radio-Frequency (RF) front-end for use in a receiver, a diversity receiver and a method for operating a diversity receiver.

Radio-frequency front-end and receiver

A frequency generator for providing one or more clock signals with reduced phase jitter can include a phase-locked loop (PLL) configured to couple with a crystal and to provide a first clock signal, a multiplier circuit configured to receive the first clock signal and to provide a second clock signal, the second clock signal having a higher frequency than the first clock signal, wherein the multiplier circuit includes a second PLL, and wherein the second clock signal is an output frequency signal of the frequency generator.

Frequency generator

A device or system for transmission and reception for voice or data communication applications. The device or system is capable of duplex operation and adapted to operate in an environment using a plurality of frequency bands. The present disclosure also relates to a communication means including a transmitter and receiver arrangement and to antennas.

Multiband RF device

An apparatus provides a baseband signal for exploiting receive antenna diversity by means of a digital baseband processor. The apparatus includes a combiner configured to temporally delay a first received signal corresponding to a first receive antenna with respect to a second received signal corresponding to a second receive antenna, and to add the delayed first received signal and the second received signal to obtain a baseband representation of a combined signal at an output of the combiner as the baseband signal for exploiting receive antenna diversity.

Apparatus and method for antenna diversity reception

The invention relates to a method that includes transfer of data encoded on the basis of a first encoding scheme via an interface between a baseband assembly and a radio-frequency assembly of a mobile radio transceiver. The method further includes transfer of a data sequence which is encoded on the basis of the first encoding scheme and which identifies a change of encoding scheme from the first encoding scheme to a second encoding scheme. Lastly, the method includes transfer of data encoded on the basis of the second encoding scheme via the interface.

Transfer of encoded data

In one embodiment, a circuit can selectively adjust a current for driving a load. The circuit includes a sensor configured to measure a magnetic field associated with the current and provide a sensor voltage representative thereof. A control circuit is configured to selectively adjust the current as a function of the sensor voltage and a time-varying voltage threshold. Other methods and systems are also disclosed.

Reuse of digital interface for multiple components

A transmission arrangement for modulating useful signals onto a carrier frequency signal has a frequency generator for generating the carrier frequency signal, a first modulation path for modulating a first useful signal onto the carrier frequency signal, and a second modulation path for modulating a second useful signal onto the carrier frequency signal. The first modulation path has a digital modulator for providing an amplitude signal and a Cartesian signal pair from the first useful signal and a Cartesian modulator for modulating the Cartesian signal pair onto the carrier frequency signal in order to provide an intermediate signal. The first modulation path is configured in such a manner that the amplitude signal is modulated onto the intermediate signal in order to provide an output signal.

Transmission arrangement and method for modulating useful signals onto a carrier frequency signal

A transceiver comprising a first frequency signal generator for generating a reception frequency signal, and a second frequency signal generator for generating a transmission frequency signal. The first frequency signal generator is coupled to the second frequency signal generator to supply the reception frequency signal to the second frequency signal generator as a reference frequency signal.

Transceiver with cascaded phase-locked loops

An apparatus provides a baseband signal for exploiting receive antenna diversity by means of a digital baseband processor. The apparatus includes a combiner configured to temporally alternately select at least one sample of a first received signal corresponding to a first receive antenna and at least one sample of a second received signal corresponding to a second receive antenna and to interleave the selected samples of the first and second received signal to obtain a temporally continuous stream of samples of a baseband representation of a combined signal at an output of the combiner as the baseband signal for exploiting receive antenna diversity.

Structures of a system on a chip are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system on a chip (SoC) includes an RF component disposed on a first part of a substrate, a semiconductor component disposed on a second part of the substrate, the semiconductor component and the RF component sharing a common boundary, and a conductive cage disposed enclosing the RF component. The conductive cage shields the semiconductor component from electromagnetic radiation originating from the RF circuit.

System on a chip with on-chip RF shield

A circuit arrangement includes a component having a closed signal path, that closed signal path connected to a first port, a second port and at least a third port. The component has a directed signal flow of a signal applied to one of that ports. Such a coupling device can be connected to a transmitter and to a receiver path, respectively.

A filter stage for use in a receiver includes a switch with an input coupled to an antenna terminal, a first output and a second output; a first filter of a first type coupled to the first output; and a second filter of a second type different from the first type, coupled to the second output. A receiver includes a filter stage as mentioned above; and a switching unit coupled to the filter stage for controlling a switching state of the switch, to selectively connect the antenna terminal to the second output, depending on a selection signal.
