An optical pick-up actuator includes a lens holder having tracking and focusing coils which substantially extend in two parallel planes at a side of the lens holder. A magnet system cooperates with the tracking and focusing coils and is arranged separately from the lens holder and extends beyond the planes. The coils are arranged for effecting tilt through cooperation with the magnet system and may be provided at each of two opposite sides of the lens holder.

3D actuator for optical disc system

An optical scanning device scans an information track which is present on an information carrier. The scanning device includes a radiation source, a lens system with an optical axis for focusing a radiation beam supplied by the radiation source into a scanning spot on the information carrier, and a focusing actuator for displacing the lens system relatively to a basic part of the scanning device in a direction parallel to the optical axis. The actuator includes an electric coil which is arranged around the lens system and provided with a passage for a radiation beam path which extends in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis. The electric coil is provided around the lens system by means of a winding process, the passage being provided in the coil by bending the parts of the coil wires which are present near the radiation beam path, in a direction substantially parallel to the optical axis. In a preferred embodiment, said parts of the coil wires are bent during the winding process by means of a mandrel which is present in the passage during the winding process. In this manner, the optical scanning device according to the invention can be manufactured in a simple manner by means of a reduced number of process steps. The optical scanning device can be used in an optical disc player.

Optical scanning device with an actuator coil bent around the beam path

The invention relates to an optical scanning device ( ) for scanning an information carrier ( ), such as a CD or DVD. The scanning device comprises a radiation source ( ), a lens system ( ) with an optical axis ( ) for focussing a radiation beam ( ) supplied by the radiation source into a scanning spot ( ) on the information carrier, and a focussing actuator ( ) for displacing the lens system with respect to a base part ( ) of the scanning device in a direction parallel to the optical axis. The lens system is elastically suspended with respect to a suspension member ( ) of the scanning device, said suspension member being arranged next to the lens system, viewed in a direction transverse to the optical axis. The scanning device further comprises an adjusting device ( ) with a first part ( ) and a second part ( ), which can be displaced with respect to said first part to set an inclination of the lens system with respect to the information carrier about two mutually perpendicular inclination axes ( ). According to the invention, the second part of the adjusting device is provided on the suspension member, while the first part of the adjusting device is provided on a supporting member ( ) which is arranged next to the lens system, viewed in a direction transverse to the optical axis. In this manner, a structural height of the optical scanning device, viewed in a direction parallel to the optical axis, is substantially not influenced by the presence of the adjusting device, so that said structural height can be reduced substantially. The optical scanning device in accordance with the invention can be used in an optical disc player according to the invention.

Optical scanning device comprising a lens system with adjustable inclination

A scanning device comprises a lens (2) having an optical axis (2a). The lens is movable in a focussing direction (F) to form at least one radiation spot on a surface to be scanned and in a tracking direction (T) oriented transversely of the focussing direction, in order to follow a recording track. The scanning device comprises a stationary section (16) with a magnetic circuit and one air gap (20), and a section (6) which includes the lens and is movable relative to the stationary section. The movable section comprises at least one focussing coil (12) and two tracking coils (14a, 14b) for driving the lens, the focussing coil having a coil axis (12a) extending parallel to the optical axis. The air gap is situated between the optical axis of the lens and the coil axis of the focussing coil. The movable section is secured to the stationary section by a compliant mechanical suspension (22a, 22b), and its mass center is situated in or at least near the air gap.

Two axis electro-optical scanning device having orthogonal coils sharing

A device for centering a disc to be read or recorded while rotating includes a turntable and a plurality of centering parts resiliently connected thereto and extending above the supporting surface thereof concentrically about the axis of rotation. Each centering part has a pair of connection strips connected thereto remote from its free end and extending toward the axis of rotation, each connection strip also extending toward and being connected to an adjacent connecting strip extending from another connecting part. Deflecting a free end of any centering part toward the axis of rotation causes other such parts to be likewise deflected, thereby assuring concentricity of the disc with the axis.

Device for centering a rotating disk

A disc-record player includes a pressure apparatus for pressing a disc onto a turntable. A mandril which is coaxial with the turntable engages the edge of a center hole in the disc. The pressure apparatus comprises rollers which can deflect elastically in a radial direction relative to the axis of rotation of the turntable and which are carried by a pressure member. The pressure member is axially movable relative to the mandril and acts on the disc at a radial distance from the center hole. The mandril comprises a conical guide wall whose diameter decreases towards the turntable and which cooperates with the rollers when downward pressing action occurs.
