A cis co-ordination compound of platinum having the structure ##STR1## in which X and Y are the same or different ligands selected from sulphate, phosphate, nitrate, carboxylate, halogen-substituted carboxylate and water and A and B are the same or different branched chain aliphatic amines co-ordinated to the Pt through their N atoms, such that the platinum is present as Pt.sup.2+.

Platinum coordination compounds

A cis co-ordination compound of platinum having the structure ##STR1## in which X and Y are the same or different ligands selected from halide, sulphate, phosphate, nitrate, carboxylate, carboxylate substituted with halogen and water and A and B are the same or different straight-chain alkyl amines containing at least 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl chain co-ordinated to the Pt through their N atoms, such that the platinum is present as Pt.sup.2+.

Compositions containing platinum

A cis co-ordination compound of platinum having the structure ##STR1## in which X and Y are the same or different ligands selected from sulphate, phosphate, nitrate, tartronate, benzylmalonate, cyclobutane-1, 1-dicarboxylate, phthalate, oxalate, tartrate, pyruvate, gluconate, succinato, glutarato, adipato, pimelato and malato and water and A and B are the same or different alicyclic amines selected from cyclopentamine and cyclohexylamine co-ordinated to the Pt through their N atoms, such that the platinum is present as Pt.sup.2+.
