A system to control fuel-pressure of fuel delivered to a fuel-injector includes a fuel-pump, an absolute-pressure-sensor, a pressure-regulator, and a controller. The fuel-pump is operable to vary fuel-pressure of fuel output by the fuel-pump. The absolute-pressure-sensor indicates an absolute-pressure of the fuel. The pressure-regulator limits the fuel-pressure by releasing fuel output by the fuel-pump when the fuel-pressure exceeds a tank-pressure of the fuel-tank by a pressure-threshold. The controller is in communication with the absolute-pressure-sensor and the fuel-pump. The controller periodically operates the fuel-pump in a test-mode where the fuel-pressure is such that the pressure-regulator releases fuel output by the fuel-pump, estimates a barometric-pressure outside of the fuel-tank based on the absolute-pressure while the pressure-regulator is releasing fuel output by the fuel-pump into the fuel-tank, and operates the fuel-pump in a normal-mode where the fuel-pressure is controlled so the absolute-pressure corresponds to a desired-pressure that is determined based on the barometric-pressure.

A system and a method for bypassing execution of an algorithm are provided. The method includes associating a first algorithm of a first computer with a second algorithm of a second computer, utilizing the first computer, wherein execution of the second algorithm by the second computer is to be bypassed. The method further includes determining when the second computer has a predetermined state. The method further includes stopping execution of the second algorithm on the second computer when the second computer has the predetermined state. The method further includes initiating execution of the first algorithm on the first computer when the second computer has the predetermined state.

System and method for bypassing execution of an algorithm

A system for acquiring information on the operation of an electronic control unit (ECU) includes a controller and a non-volatile memory. The controller is coupled to address and data buses of a central processing unit (CPU), which is located within an electronic control unit (ECU). The controller includes a register and/or a logging buffer for facilitating ECU analysis. The non-volatile memory is located within the ECU and is coupled to the address and data buses of the CPU. The register logs the current memory address of the non-volatile memory, when the controller determines the current memory address is a memory address of interest. The logging buffer logs the current memory address of the non-volatile memory each time the controller determines the current memory address is a memory address of interest.

Electronic control unit analysis

An electronic control unit (ECU) includes a central processing unit (CPU), a non-volatile memory bank, a volatile memory bank and a state machine. The state machine is in communication with the CPU and functions to selectively capture information available on an internal bus of the CPU on a cycle-by-cycle basis and store the captured information in the volatile memory, which is also coupled to the CPU.
