A glass pane including at least a glass sheet provided with heating strips powered by collectors, the heating strips being divided in groups. The power supply of the different groups is provided sequentially, each group being powered once per sequence. The supply is provided by a device equipped to measure the outside temperature and the temperature of the outer surface of the glass, to determine a minimum heating time for each group according to the outside temperature, and to maintain the heating in the group as long as the outer surface temperature of the glass opposite the group is not higher than the melting point of ice.

Heated glass panes, in particular for vehicles

This invention relates to panes, notably laminated panes, composed of at least one sheet of rigid material, and permanently containing a surface antenna composed of at least one microstrip separated from an earth plane by a dielectric. These panes, having such an antenna, are used for the reception and transmission of frequencies higher than 1 GHz and preferably for the frequency bands 5795-5815 MHz, 63-64 GHz and 74-77 GHz.

An apparatus for cambering glass sheets includes a reheating furnace for reheating a glass sheet, a sealed cambering station and a conveyor for transferring a heated glass sheet from the furnace to the cambering station. The cambering station includes a shaping upper member. The glass sheet therein is raised into engagement with the upper member, for example by gas pressure, in order to camber the glass sheet. Hot gas ducts surrounding the upper member blow hot gas onto the upper member in such a way as to increased the temperature thereof to a temperature higher than that of the glass sheet when the glass sheet enters the cambering station. Therefore, the glass sheet can be introduced into the cambering station at a relatively low temperature and heated to a temperature high enough for cambering only when in contact with the upper member. The cambered glass sheet can then be discharged to a cooling station.

A machine cambering glass plates as a curved shaping bed formed of vertically aligned pairs of rollers. Each roller of each pair has an end mounted to a pivoting arm so that it can be elastically bent in a middle portion thereof, while keeping the ends of the rollers straight. Needle bearings support the rollers in the bending plane. The support arm for the lower roller supports the support arm for the upper roller, so that the two pivot together so as to provide uniform bending for the upper and lower pairs of rollers.

A beam carries two abutments and is moveable on the conveying direction of the conveyor. Starting from rest, the beam is accelerated to a speed less than that of the glass sheet moving on the conveyor, so that the glass sheet contacts the abutments while both are moving along the conveyor. Once the glass sheet is correctly oriented, the beam is accelerated and raised to permit the passage of the glass sheet. The beam is then retracted to the initial position for the next cycle of operation.

A bending installation includes a shaping bed, an evacuation conveyor positioned downstream of the shaping bed and a swinging device for swinging a glass plate exiting the downstream end of the shaping bed from the shaping bed to the evacuation conveyor. The shaping bed is curved in a direction of advance of the glass plate and has a conveying direction different from that of the evacuation conveyor. The swinging device takes the form of a rotating drum mounted coaxially with a support roller. The drum includes holding rollers spaced from the support roller by a distance sufficient that a glass plate exiting the shaping bed is held between a holding roller and the support roller, so that the swinging device is swung by the weight of the glass plate to a position where the glass plate is transferred to the evacuation conveyor. A tempering air blowing box may be provided on the swinging device.

Method and apparatus for bending and tempering glass plates

A bending and hardening installation includes a shaping bed, an evacuation conveyor positioned downstream of the shaping bed and a tilting device for tilting a glass plate exiting the downstream end of the shaping bed from the shaping bed to the evacuation conveyor. The shaping end is curved in a direction of advance of the glass plate and has a conveying direction different from that of the evacuation conveyor. The tilting device takes the form of a rotating drum mounted coaxially with a support roller. An air blowing box is provided on the tilting device for hardening the glass plate as it is being tilted.
