A lazy-susan type roll table supports, in a vertical position, a roll of place mats interconnected into a continuous web (i.e. each mat is attached to its adjacent mat by perforations and all are rolled up on a core to form the roll of material). A web feed roller, also disposed for rotation about a vertical axis, is spaced from the roll table and cooperates with a pinch roller to grip therebetween the web of place mats and to feed the place mats along a path. An end panel positioning plate receives the end place mat, as the web is being fed, and carries an infra-red sensor which responds to the presence of the perforations between the mats to terminate drive of the web feed roller. A web tension drive extends up through the core of the roll of place mats and mounts a soft rubber drive wheel which when driven urges the web roll in a direction opposite to that imparted to the web by the web feed roller. Control circuitry actuates the tension drive when web feed drive terminates to apply tension to the web and facilitate severing of the end place mat, from the other place mats, along the perforations when the end place mat is positioned at the end panel. The end panel also carries a micro-switch which senses the absence of the just separated end place mat to terminate power to the tension drive and start web feed drive to repeat the process of positioning a place mat at the end panel. A jogging switch is provided to facilitate short web advancing operations of the web feed and an oscillator is provided to adjust the length of advance of the web to thereby compensate for different size place mats.

A non-slip place mat is disclosed which comprises a web such as a paper sheet, and a composition coating comprising a blend of water, a water-soluble salt, a wax and a polymeric material, which both coats and impregnates the web, e.g. the paper sheet, whereby said sheet is rendered substantially hydrophobic and it and items placed on it are rendered substantially slip-resistant when resting on a tray or table which may be subject to sudden movement. The non-slip place mat is particularly useful for airline serving trays. The present place mat is characterized by the provision of a generally rectangular planar flexible web, which is indented along two opposed edges. The web is multi-layered, i.e. coated, and the four corners of the web are rounded off, so that each corner is defined by a curved periphery. A plurality of place mats in a roll and arrayed in tandem, i.e. juxtaposed seriatim, is also contemplated, each two adjacent mats being detachably attached to each other by a weakened zone comprising a rectilinear array of spaced-apart and typically circular perforations, each array of perforations extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the rolled-up line of place mats, i.e. parallel to the central longitudinal axis of the cylindrical roll.

Place mat

An improved leather grip is disclosed wherein leather strapping for a handle is treated with a tackifier resin, the surface roughened, and a solvent applied to the leather surface. A wax-solvent solution may also be used in treating the leather. The improved hand grip is useful in improving the grip on sporting equipment such as golf clubs and tennis racquets.

A place mat is disclosed which comprises a paper sheet and a composition coating comprising a blend of water, a water soluable salt, a wax and a polymeric material which both coats and impregnates the paper sheet, whereby said sheet is rendered substantially hydrophobic and it and items placed on it are rendered substantially slip resistant when resting on a tray or table which may be subject to sudden movement. The non-slip place mat is particularly useful for airline serving trays.

A non-slip material is disclosed which is useful as a handle grip covering, which comprises a curvilinear surface of a cellular or porous web of material, which curvilinear surface is coated with a tackifier resin. Said layer being optionally carried by a supporting substrate such as paper, film, metal or preferably a vinyl foam and a wear resistant and tacky coating on at least the upper surfaces of the strands or walls of said cellular layer.

Non-slip material for the hand

A non-slip material used, e.g., as a handle grip covering provided for replacing the usual material wrapped around the handle of, for example, a golf club or tennis racket. The material may be used to cover any surface where non-slip is desired. The covering comprises a substrate coated on one side with a foamed material comprising, for example, a vinyl copolymer resinous binder containing expanded microspheres. A wax coating covers the foamed material coating. This handle covering is wrapped around a handle. It provides a non-slip, perspiration absorbing handle cover.

Handle grip material

A tennis or squash racket is provided wherein, by changing the number of strings in the racket and rearranging their location the shock of the impact of the ball upon the racket is resiliently absorbed over a longer period of time than heretofore, and a better control of the ball is obtained. A center group of vertical strings is provided, wherein the strings are closely spaced about the center of the racket and two strings are positioned on either side of the center group which are further apart in the remaining racket space. There is a horizontal string group closely spaced principally about the center with a fewer number of strings on either side between the horizontal string group and the top and the bottom of the racket.

Tennis racket

Apparatus for winding a fishing line or the like onto or off from a variety of fishing reels, including a pair of reel holders positioned on opposite sides of the reel with one of the holders being rotatably driven as by a motor. One of the reel holders includes a support face that bears against an end of the reel, an axial hole in the holder, a centering shaft with a tapered face slideably mounted in the hole, and a spring that urges the tapered face of the shaft towards the reel to enter a central hole in the reel and thereby center the reel on the axis of rotation of the reel holder. One of the reel holders is in the shape of a spool with a tapered line-receiving axle and with a removable spool end at the narrowest end of the axle, so that line wound onto the tapered axle can be easily removed. Reels with bases are held on a frame with a cam-operated clamping bracket.

Line winder

A fire extinguisher fluid comprising an aqueous gel containing as gelling agent a combination of polyacrylamide and bentonite, particularly a mixture of 0.5 parts polyacrylamide and 2.7 parts bentonite, per 100 parts of water, by weight. The gelling components are incorporated in water in the proper proportions, and a stream of the resulting aqueous gel is applied to a burning area, to form a wet cool blanket thereover and inhibit further burning.
