A torsion damper comprising juxtaposed resilient plates which operate in parallel and are interposed between a support member and a hub. Each resilient plate comprises at least one resiliently deformable arm. The torsion damper has at least two pairs of similar resilient plates. One of the pairs lies between the plates of the other pair and is offset with respect to the other pair by an angle such that the two pairs of plates are radially balanced. A force transmission linkage for an automotive vehicle couples a control member with a maneuvering member of a declutching device for a clutch, and is of the kind comprising a mechanical part with application points carried by a fixed part of the vehicle. In accordance with the invention, one of the application points of the linkage is movable in both directions along a course of travel which is defined between two limit positions and under the action of an irreversible control device driven by a motor. At least one position sensor is associated with the control member and with the movable application point, respectively. A computer is provided, for receiving the information signals from the position sensors so as to control the motor of the control device.

Force transmission linkage for automotive vehicles

A force transmission linkage for an automotive vehicle couples a control member with a manoeuvring member of a declutching device for a clutch, and is of the kind comprising a mechanical part with application points carried by a fixed part of the vehicle. In accordance with the invention, one of the said application points of the linkage is movable under the action of a control device comprising a motor and a transmission acting between the said motor and the said movable application point. A sensor for detecting a supplementary strain in the linkage, is provided together with a computer, with the computer receiving information signals from the strain sensor for control of the motor.

A torsion damper for a friction clutch and/or a double damped flywheel of an automotive vehicle is of the kind having a viscous damper of the type in which two cooperating sets of vanes or fins are associated respectively with an inner and an outer carrying element. An obturator is mounted for radial sliding movement in an open chamber formed in each of the fins forming part of the inner carrying element. The obturator comprises a head block which is mounted for movement with a plunger that extends through a collar. The plunger is under the influence of a return spring, one end of which bears on the collar, with the other end bearing on an end stop fixed to the plunger. The arrangement is such that the obturator is radially moveable between a rest position in which it is in engagement on the collar, and an obturating position in which it closes off the passage between the associated fin and the outer carrying element.

A torsion damper has a viscous damping device, a dry friction damping device, two guide rings, a damper plate and a hub. The viscous damping device is arranged outside the zone which is bounded by the guide rings, and is confined within a housing comprising two housing portions which are movable with respect to each other. Mutual engagement structure which couples components together for simultaneous rotation, are provided between (a) the hub and one of the housing portions and (b) the other portion of the housing and that one of the coaxial parts of the damper which is not coupled with the hub for rotation therewith.

A damper-type flywheel comprises two coaxial parts adapted to rotate relative to each other about their common axis. A circumferentially acting spring device is operatively disposed between the two coaxial parts. An annular fluid-tight cavity is defined between the two coaxial parts. A viscous damper device accommodated in the fluid-tight cavity is mechanically disposed between the two coaxial parts. The viscous damper device may comprise two groups of fins in the annular cavity each constrained to rotate with a respective one of the two coaxial parts, the annular cavity containing a viscous, preferably non-Newtonian fluid such as a silicone-based fluid.

A control linkage for a coupling device such as a clutch is designed to be coupled to an operating device. It comprises an output lever and, associated with and generally aligned with the output lever, a wear compensator. This comprises an actuator lever pivoted to the output lever and adapted to be constrained to pivot with the output lever by disengagable detent device. The detent device is operative through a demultiplier lever pivoted to the actuator lever and coupled to the output lever by a lost motion connection.

A brake shoe having a support and a friction lining fixed to one face of the support. The support has, in its marginal region adjacent each side of the support abutting a lateral thrust shoulder, a protuberance projecting beyond the other face of the support. The protuberance is provided on only a portion of the extent of the marginal region and is devoid of friction lining, whereas the remainder of the extent of the marginal region is devoid of protuberance and is at least partly covered with friction lining.

A twin-disc brake comprises a fixed support, extending over an angular sector of about 180.degree., and common to two calipers associated each with a respective disc. The calipers are mounted so as to slide axially along guides in the support and have hydraulic cylinders arranged on only one side of the associated disc, each caliper presents a reaction face for the pads on the other side of the associated disc. The brake is axially compact.
