Methods and systems for providing crosstalk compensation in a jack are disclosed. According to one method, the crosstalk compensation is adapted to compensate for undesired crosstalk generated at a capacitive coupling located at a plug inserted within the jack. The method includes positioning a first capacitive coupling a first time delay away from the capacitive coupling of the plug, the first capacitive coupling having a greater magnitude and an opposite polarity as compared to the capacitive coupling of the plug. The method also includes positioning a second capacitive coupling at a second time delay from the first capacitive coupling, the second time delay corresponding to an average time delay that optimizes near end crosstalk. The second capacitive coupling has generally the same overall magnitude but an opposite polarity as compared to the first capacitive coupling, and includes two capacitive elements spaced at different time delays from the first capacitive coupling.

Multistage capacitive crosstalk compensation arrangement

The present disclosure relates to a telecommunications jack including a housing having a port for receiving a plug. The jack also includes a plurality of contact springs adapted to make electrical contact with the plug when the plug is inserted into the port of the housing, and a plurality of wire termination contacts for terminating wires to the jack. The jack further includes a circuit board that electrically connects the contact springs to the wire termination contacts. The circuit board includes a multi-zone crosstalk compensation arrangement for reducing crosstalk at the jack.

The present invention relates to methods and systems for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors. Specifically, the methods and systems relate to isolation and compensation techniques for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors for use with high-speed data cabling. A frame can be configured to receive a number of connectors. Shield structures may be positioned to isolate at least a subset of the connectors from one another. The connectors can be positioned to move at least a subset of the connectors away from alignment with a common plane. A signal compensator may be configured to adjust a data signal to compensate for alien crosstalk. The connectors are configured to efficiently and accurately propagate high-speed data signals by, among other functions, minimizing alien crosstalk.

Methods and systems for compensating for alien crosstalk between connectors

An electrical connection system includes various devices and structures for improving alien crosstalk performance in a high density configuration. In certain examples, a plurality of insulation displacement contacts of a connector are arranged at angle and oriented to be symmetrical about an axial of the connector. The connector includes a connector housing and a shield cap configured to at least partially cover the connector housing. The shield cap includes a shield wall and an open side that is not closed by a shield wall. The shield wall exposes a portion of the connector when the shield cap is mounted to the connector housing. When a plurality of such connectors are arranged side by side in a high density configuration, the connectors are aligned such that the open side of the shield cap is arranged close to, or abutted to, the shield wall of the shield cap of an adjacent connector.

Electrical connector system with alien crosstalk reduction devices

A telecommunications connector includes a housing defining a port for receiving a plug. A circuit board has a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer, with a dielectric layer situated between the first and second conductive layers. A plurality of conductive vias extend through the circuit board, and receive a plurality of electrical connection members and a plurality of wire termination contacts. A plurality of conductive tracks electrically interconnect selected ones of the plurality of conductive vias so as to electrically connect the plurality of electrical connection members and the plurality of wire termination contacts. A crosstalk compensation arrangement provides crosstalk compensation between selected conductive tracks of the circuit board. The crosstalk compensation arrangement includes a first capacitive coupling having a first conductive plate on the first conductive layer and a second conductive plate on the second conductive layer, and a first one of the conductive vias is at least partially surrounded by the first conductive plate. The first conductive plate on the first conductive layer may further form a second capacitive coupling with third conductive plate on the second conductive layer.

Connector with capacitive crosstalk compensation

A test fixture and method of its use are disclosed. The test fixture includes a test fixture frame including a first test fixture mount having a first test head mounted thereon, the first test head slidable along a first axis, and a second test fixture mount having a second test head mounted thereon that is slidable along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The test fixture further includes a first test plate holder mounted to the first test head and including a clamping mechanism, as well as a probe mounting plate mounted to the first test plate holder and retained by the clamping mechanism and including a plurality of radially-disposed probe receptacles. The test fixture includes a plurality of probe assemblies received in corresponding probe receptacles, each including a probe extending at least partially through the probe mounting plate, each electrically connecting to a design under test.

Balunless test fixture

The present disclosure relates to a telecommunications connector having cross-talk compensations, and a method of managing alien crosstalk in such a connector. In one example, the telecommunications connector includes electrical conductors arranged in differential pairs and a circuit board with conductive layers that provide a cross-talk compensation arrangement for applying capacitance between the electrical conductors. The circuit board includes conductive paths that provide capacitive coupling and a conductive plate that intensifies capacitive coupling of the electrical conductors. In another example, the telecommunications connector is used with a twisted pair system. Capacitances applied by the crosstalk compensation arrangement between electrical conductors associated with the pairs are provided such that, for each differential pair, a magnitude of an overall capacitance at a first electrical conductor of a differential pair is approximately equal to a magnitude of an overall capacitance at a second electrical conductor of the differential pair.

Connector with capacitive crosstalk compensation to reduce alien crosstalk

A test station and method of testing a design under test are disclosed. One method includes applying a first test frequency signal to a reference path to determine a first known attenuation level, and applying the first test frequency signal to a design under test to determine a first tested attenuation level of the design under test at the first test frequency. The method also includes applying a second test frequency signal to the reference path to determine a second known attenuation level, and applying the second test frequency signal to the design under test to determine a second tested attenuation level of the design under test at the second test frequency. The method includes determining whether the design under test is faulty based on the first tested attenuation level and the second tested attenuation level.
