The present invention relates generally to a closure and particularly to a closure of the type known as a sport cap.

Hot-fill method

A closure is provided and comprises a body and an inset. The closure has a drainage system for allowing fluid applied to the closure to pass between the exterior of the insert and the interior of the body to allow removal thereof.

Closure

The fragrance emitting dispensing container consists of a container body and a container closure. The container body can be of any shape but preferably is of a decorative shape. The closure functions to close the container and to distribute the fragrance to the room or other space in which the container is present. The closure has a cavity that contains a fragrance emitting material which can be a sheet material or a particulate material. The top of the cavity is a lid with apertures to emit the fragrance into a room. The apertures are covered with a seal which can be partially or fully removed to open the apertures. The seal can be a single seal or a multi-segment seal, with each segment separably removeable to expose a given number of apertures.

A stopper device for a bottle having a neck provided with an outside bead at its free end and intended for use with a water fountain type liquid dispenser comprises a plastics material capsule having an end wall from which project in the same direction a substantially cylindrical outer skirt which has an inside bead which hooks behind the outside bead on the neck of the bottle and a substantially cylindrical inner chimney to receive a dispenser tube on the dispenser which nests in the chimney from the side of the end wall of the capsule when the bottle is fitted to the dispenser. The capsule further comprises a tamperproofing closure which closes off the chimney so that it is irrevocably and visibly destroyed upon nesting of the dispenser tube in the chimney and can comprise a diaphragm made up of a plurality of petals connected together by tear lines.

A bottle cap with a gas barrier seal for use in combination with the screw threaded neck of a carbonated beverage container and the like, having a body formed with an annular skirt and an end wall and a relatively stiff, high gas barrier, circular seal having a diameter greater than the outside diameter of the neck of the container where the seal is inserted adjacent the end wall into the cap body which includes a frusto-conical bead clamping element having a cone angle equal to or less than 90.degree. and an annular rib to prevent lateral displacement of the circular seal.

Dispenser for removing a fluid from a container

A tamperproof cap with pourer for closing the neck of a container having an exterior attachment flange includes a fixing ring with an interior bead for attachment to the exterior flange on the neck of the container, a stopper hinged to the ring, and a tear-off tamperproof strip joining the stopper to the ring until the stopper is opened for the first time. The fixing ring, the stopper and the tamperproof strip are molded in one piece from plastics material. A pourer member is fitted into cap and fits to the neck of the container when the cap is fitted to the neck so that the hinged stopper co-operates with the pourer spout of the pourer member.

A rupturable stopper for a pouring spout for a receptacle includes a base having a pouring zone sealed closed by a cover connected to the base by frangible connection. The spout includes a tubular neck having internal screw threads connected to the base so as to surround the frangible connection and terminating at a pouring lip. A cylindrical appendage extending up from the cover lies concentrically within the neck and receives a closure cap thereon that includes screw threads engageable with the neck and a seal that engages a spout pouring lip when the cap is engaged with the spout neck. Interlocking elements between the cap and the appendage prevent reverse rotation of the cap relative to the appendage so that, once the cap is secured in place within the neck by the screw threads, the first attempt to remove the cap drives the appendage in a twisting and axial movement to cause rupture of the frangible connection to open the pouring zone of the base. Reapplication of the cap in the neck reseals the pouring zone with the original cover and also seals the spout along the lip area of the neck.

A tamper-indicating screw-on closure cap for receptacles having threaded necks includes a tamper-indicating security band in the form of a ring including a stop strip turned inwardly of the ring and inclined in an inward and upward direction so that, upon first assembly of the cap to a receptacle neck the stop strip engages beneath a peripheral projection on the neck. The stop strip includes a continuous upper edge lying in an imaginary stop plane extending perpendicular to the axial direction of the cap and spaced zones of lesser thickness that define a plurality of sectors that also include an inwardly projecting chordwise rib terminating at an inner edge that subtends each respective sector, wherein the edges of the ribs together define a polygonal section of passage the inscribed circle of which presents a diameter smaller than that of the peripheral projection of the neck.

A closure cap made of moulded plastics material for closing necked containers is disclosed. The cap includes a tamper-proof ring formed from a belt and a folded band, the belt having a local overthickness presenting an angular area corresponding to that separating two successive interruptions of the folded band. The invention is more particularly applicable to so-called 'pigtail' caps.

Cap moulded in one piece, comprising a ring (7) having on the inside a bead (10) for attaching it to the neck (1) of the container to be capped, a stopper (8) joined by a hinge (15) to said ring (7) and having a sealing skirt (13), and a tamperproof strip (9) joining the stopper (8) to the ring (7) until the first time the cap is opened. To cap a container having a neck (1) with a single attachment flange (3), the stopper (8) includes an annular bearing surface (12) bearing on the upper edge (5) of the neck and surrounding said skirt (13), said skirt (13) projecting from said bearing surface (12) over a length (1) at least equal to the distance h.sub.1 between the lower side (4) of the flange (3) and the upper edge (5) of the neck, and the hinge is offset relative to said annular bearing surface (12) towards the ring (7) by an amount (h.sub.2) at least equal to said distance (h.sub.1).
