A machine for leveling a strip of material includes a fixed supporting frame; an upper leveling device and a lower leveling device, each leveling device forming a cassette with a plurality of separated rollers, rotatably mounted on a frame of a device for rotating the rollers connected to at least some of the rollers by an extender, each extender having one end provided with a removable coupling member with one end for rotating the roller, and a device for locking each removable coupling member by clamping. The clamping locking device includes a device configure for translating the removable coupling members in the direction of travel of the material, and in the opposite direction.

Method for modifying the distance between the rollers of a leveling machine, leveling machine, and apparatus for implementing said method

A machine for leveling a strip of material contains a lower stationary back plate from which extends vertical beams located on either side of a longitudinal axis. A lower stationary leveling chassis and an upper leveling chassis are provided. Each chassis contains spaced apart rollers. An upper stationary back plate is rigidly secured to the upper end of each beam, and a moving coupling device couples the upper leveling chassis to the upper back plate. A device allows a vertical translational movement of the upper leveling chassis in relation to the upper stationary back plate between a rest position where the rollers of the upper leveling chassis are moved away from rollers of the lower leveling chassis and a leveling position where rollers of the upper leveling chassis are moved towards rollers of the lower leveling chassis and the strip is forced to travel along an undulating path.

A device for turning over a flattening element having a plurality of spaced-apart cylinders rotatably mounted on a frame and a device for securing it to the turning-over device, includes two uprights extending vertically from a base. A supporting and securing device for the flattening element engages with the securing device of the flattening element. The supporting and securing device is disposed between the uprights. A device rotates the supporting and securing device about a horizontal axis between a first position in which, when the flattening element is connected to the turning-over device, the cylinders of the flattening element are oriented downward, and a second position in which, when the flattening element is connected to the turning-over device, the cylinders of the flattening element are oriented upward. Vertical translation drive devices vertically translate the supporting and securing device. Each vertical translation drive device is connected to one respective upright.

Device for turning over a flattening element and flattening element engaging with said device

A rolling mill comprising at least two work rolls supported by chocks (4, 40) mounted so as to slide, with clearance, between two fixed guide faces (13a, 13b). Each chock (4, 40) is thrust laterally against the guide faces (13a, 13b) in order to take up the clearance when in service. Each chock (4, 40) is surrounded by two intermediate pieces (6a, 6b) mounted so as to slide without clearance along the corresponding guide faces (13a, 13b). These intermediate pieces are rigidly locked vertically with the chock (4) so as to move with it. Lateral thrustors (7) are interposed between at least one side of each chock (4) and the facing intermediate piece (6b) in order to push the chock back against the other intermediate piece (6a) and corresponding guide face (13a). The two guide faces (13a, 13'a) against which the two chocks (4, 4') of a roll (2) are pressed define a reference plane (P1) for the positioning of the axis of the roll (2) with the possibility of sliding parallel to that plane (P1).

A device for cleaning or polishing a roll (4), mounted for rotation about an axis and comprising a cleaning roller (41) mounted for rotation on a support device comprising two parallel arms (15, 16) extending, respectively, between an inner end (15a, 16a) and an outer end (15b, 16b), and which can be moved between a position in which the roller (41) is applied against the roll (4) and a retracted position, and an arrangement for controlling the rotation of the roller (41) about its axis x'x. The outer ends (15b, 16b) of the two support arms (15, 16) are articulated about an axis y'y parallel to the axis of the roll (4) respectively on two fixed, aligned bearings (7, 7') which are simultaneously pivotable about the axis y'y in order to apply the roller (41) against the roll (4). The rotation of the roller is controlled from a rotary device (27) centered on the pivoting axis y'y and transmitted to a driven end (19) of the roller (41) by a kinematic chain (26) mounted on the corresponding support arm (15) so as to pivot with it about the axis y'y of the control device (27).
