A method for defining the flexible payload of a telecommunications satellite with low-interference-level beam hopping includes: a first step of defining the capacity from which each beam must benefit on account of the density of exchanges to be delivered by the beam; a second step of determining, depending on the various power-amplifier sharing schemes, the maximum number Pi of beams that an amplifier is able to deliver and the average capacity allocated to each beam; a third step of forming groups of beams, each characterized by the average value of the cumulative capacity of the beams that form it, and determining the number of amplifiers required for each formed group; a fourth step, during which the various beams are distributed between various amplifiers, in such a way that the average value of the load placed on these beams is substantially equal to the average load of the group in question.

A method, and associated equipment, for dynamically allocating resources in a satellite network comprising at least one satellite configured to form a plurality of satellite beams and terminals, comprises the steps of: clustering the beams into groups of beams, allocating frequency resources to each of the groups of beams, determining geographical zones in which these frequency resources can be used simultaneously, determining a hop frame comprising first timeslots, in which the frequency resources are allocated to the whole set of terminals of one of the beams of the group, and second timeslots, in which the frequency resources are allocated to a subset of terminals of at least one beam of the group, identifying the subset of terminals and allocating to the terminals of the frequency resources, and uploading of information relating to the overall loading of each of the beams.

Method of satellite communication with flexible capacity distribution based on beam hopping and on a fractional reuse scheme

A telecommunication system comprises channels connected to a spot generation device, each spot being able to cover a dedicated user cell. All the channels have an identical bandwidth. The spot generation device comprises channel amplifiers with variable gain and with constant output power dedicated to each channel, the output power levels of all the channel amplifiers being constant and identical, frequency demultiplexers respectively connected to the channel amplifiers and intended to split the bandwidth assigned to each channel into N sub-bands having the same width corresponding to N carriers having different frequencies, a device for selecting and distributing all the carriers between the spots, and frequency combiners respectively dedicated to each spot, the number of carriers assigned to each spot being variable from one spot to another spot according to the needs of the corresponding users.

Satellite telecommunication system and method with multispot coverage and with variable capacity distribution

A multi-beam antenna comprises an array of feeds illuminating a reflector, the feeds being associated in a plurality of groups. Each feed comprises a polarizer, two diplexers and four ports operating in four different colours.
