The present disclosure relates to apparatus, assemblies, combinations, and methods for infusing fluids by hollow microneedles.

Hollow microneedle arrays

Systems and methods for delivering microneedles to a patient's skin are described. In one aspect, a system for delivering a microneedle array to a patient's skin surface is provided. The system includes a delivery apparatus with a housing, and an infusion device detachably received in the housing.

Methods and devices are disclosed which can provide an indication of oil quality by measuring a capacitive property of the oil. The methods and/or devices may use a sample acquisition probe comprising a microvolume oil acquisition basin with a capacitive sensing element that is located on the floor of the basin and that is laterally bounded by an oleophilic wetting feature. The methods may involve immersing a sample acquisition probe at least partially into a supply of oil and withdrawing the probe from the supply of oil such that a microvolume oil sample is retained within a microvolume oil acquisition basin of the probe, and measuring a capacitive property of the microvolume oil sample with a capacitive sensing element that is located in the basin.

Methods and devices for acquiring an oil sample and monitoring the quality thereof

A sample acquisition device includes a capillary array configured to draw in a sample and retain the sample by capillary action. The capillary array may be coupled to an elongated member, such as a stem or a hollow tube, which defines a longitudinal axis extending in a first direction. In some embodiments, the capillary array defines a major sample acquisition surface that extends in a second direction different than the first direction. A ratio of the major sample acquisition surface area to maximum volume retained by the capillary array may be selected to minimize physical binding between the capillary array and sample. In some embodiments, the device may include a feedback mechanism to indicate the relative pressure applied to a sample source with the sample acquisition device. In addition, in some embodiments, the sample acquisition device may include a suction source to help draw the sample into the capillary array.

A biological soil detector is provided, the detector including: a solid support member; a specific indicator immobilized on the solid support member; and the solid support member and specific indicator positioned to contact liquid that has been used to contact a surface. The invention also provides a method for detecting biological soil on a surface, the method including the following steps: contacting the surface with a liquid; after the liquid has contacted the surface, contacting the liquid with the solid support member and the specific indicator; and inspecting the solid support member to determine whether the specific indicator has interacted with biological soil.

Biological soil detector

A biological soil detector and a method for detecting bio soil are provided. The biological soil detector has a solid support member; a specific indicator immobilized on the solid support member, the specific indicator having a material sensitive to the presence of blood; and the solid support and specific indicator positioned within or on a retaining member to readily contact a liquid that has been used to contact a surface. In the method for detecting bio soil, the method includes the following steps: contacting the surface with a liquid; after the liquid has contacted the surface, contacting the liquid with the solid support member and the specific indicator of the detector described herein; and inspecting the solid support member for a detectable response to determine whether the specific indicator has interacted with biological soil.

A biological soil detector is provided, having: a solid support member; a specific indicator immobilized on the solid support member; and a retaining member which holds the solid support, the retaining member and solid support are configured so that the solid support will readily contact a surface being tested for the presence of biological soil. A method for the use of the detector is also provided, the method including the following steps: contacting the biological soil detector with a surface; withdrawing the biological soil detector from the surface; and inspecting the solid support member of the detector to determine whether the specific indicator immobilized has interacted with biological soil. In still another aspect, the invention provides biological soil detector and a method for using the detector in which the detector includes: a solid support member that has been treated with at least one amine or quaternary functional coating; and a specific indicator immobilized on the coating.
