Described are coating material compositions comprising an isocyanate group-containing component, a hydroxyl group-containing component, and a zinc (1-methylimidazole)bis(2-ethylhexanoate) complex. Also described is the use of a zinc (1-methylimidazole)bis(2-ethylhexanoate) complex as a catalyst system for the urethane reaction in coating material compositions.

The invention relates to coating material compositions comprising an isocyanate group-containing component, a hydroxyl group-containing component, a zinc-imidazole-carboxylate complex and a monomeric aromatic carboxylic acid, and also to the use of a zinc-imidazole-carboxylate complex in the presence of a monomeric aromatic carboxylic acid as a catalyst system for the urethane reaction in coating material compositions.

Disclosed is a moisture-curing coating composition based on aprotic solvents comprising a binder with a polyacrylate or polymethacrylate obtained using monomer (I) and a phosphorous- and nitrogen-containing catalyst. Also disclosed is a method of producing a multicoat finish using these coating compositions and also to the use of this method to coat interior or exterior bodywork components or to coat components for shipbuilding and aircraft construction or to coat components for household and electrical appliances or to coat plastics moldings or films.
