The invention concerns novel uses of peptides derived from the cytoplasmic domain of the amyloid protein precursor (APP); said peptides are in particular sequences including the membrane domain juxtaposed to the cytoplasmic domain of the amyloid protein precursor (APP) (one-letter code), selected in the group consisting of the sequences YKQYTSIHHGY(SEQ ID NO:2). YKKQYTSIHHGY(SEQ ID NO:3) and YKKKQYTSIHHGY(SEQ ID NO:4), wherein Yis nil or represents V, VV, VVE, VVEV or VVVED and Yrepresents an internalisation and addressing peptide, derived from the 3rd helix of homeodomains and structually related peptides. The invention also concerns the use of a peptide comprising the membrane domain juxtaposed to the cytoplasmic domain of the amyloid protein precursor (APP), for selecting and screening products capable of inhibiting apoptosis.
