Hybrid digital-analog time displays are provided to tell time with digital hour and minute values, as well as simultaneous analog tracks that are coordinated in lengths with the minute values. These displays are shown in four successive quadrants and enable users to view current time exactly from the digital values and approximately from the analog tracks.

Hybrid digital&#x2014;analog time displays

Vehicle 4-way emergency flasher circuits are modified by circuit branches which enable flashing selected pairs of emergency lamps at a higher frequency or in other discernible different ways. These selected lamps become visible and recognizable as right or left turn signals while the 4-way flasher circuit is operating.

A third light is added above the lower two rear turn signal lights of an automotive vehicle Detection hardware is included which senses when both lower lights begin flashing simultaneously due to activation of the vehicle's 4-way hazard warning system. Such detection also introduces current pulses to the third light which flashes simultaneously with the lower two lights to generate a triangular configuration of the three flashing lights. Retrofit circuitry is described to enable installing the modified triangular signal into existing vehicles.

Potential disadvantages of the enhanced emergency hazard warning lights set forth in U.S. Pat. No. 7,352,278 are overcome by adding a lamp that beams its light rearward toward approaching traffic, is located approximately midway between and above the horizontal alignment of the rear turn signal lamps, thereby forming a triangular flashing emergency hazard warning signal that cannot be discontinued or otherwise disturbed when the vehicle's brakes and brake lights are simultaneously operated.

Continuous enhanced vehicle hazard warning lights

Enhanced internal electrical generators are provided which include pole pieces that form air gaps flanked with conductive wire coils. Rotatable armatures supporting permanent magnets are arranged to swing or revolve relative to the air gaps such that the magnetic flux thereof is intersected by the wire coils to generate electrical voltage and current therein. These generators may be incorporated within the housing of many portable devices such as cell phones to self generate electrical current useful for operating the device or recharging its batteries or other component that stores the generated electrical energy.

Self powered cell phones are provided with an armature which is supported to freely oscillate in swinging opposite motions and which includes a wire coil configured to intersect the magnetic flux of a permanent magnet during such motions, which generates electrical voltage and current that can be used to operate the phone or charge or recharge its batteries. Recharging mechanisms are manually or flywheel operated to impart the armature's motions and supply the generated current to the cell phone batteries.

Electrical generators are provided by causing permanent magnets to travel through hollow passageways having electrical conductors flanking or surrounding the space within the passageways. The conductors are disposed in undulating patterns the amplitudes of which are aligned in selected correlated positions relative to the lengths of the passageways and directions of the magnetic flux lines in order to maximize the electromagnetically generated voltage and current in the conductors.

Omnidirectional electrical generators

A vehicle hazard warning system and method are provided wherein a center high mounted rear stop light ('CHMSL') is connected to the vehicle's 4-way emergency flasher circuit so that it flashes simultaneously with at least the vehicle's rear turn signal lights, and preferably with the front turn signal lights as well. This creates a more effective warning signal that the vehicle is a potential hazard to other vehicles approaching from the rear. The CHMSL can also be connected to automatically commence such flashing simultaneously with activated steady back up lights of the vehicle, whenever the vehicle is moving rearward.

An automated provider of predesigned mechanical motion to self powered cell phones is disclosed which avoids the need for users thereof to perform manual manipulations of the phones for power restorative purposes. An optimized kinetic generator of electrical currents for such phones is also disclosed based upon use of a linear wire coil-wrapped tubular raceway through which a permanent magnetic member moves in substantially perpendicular orientation of its magnetic flux relative to the wire coils.

Automated motion provider for self powered cell phones

A unified digital time display is presented in an expanded display field and configured for compatibility with prior balanced, quadribalanced, enhanced quadribalanced or unidirectional segmented displays by positioning hour display elements generally in the center of the field, minute display elements in a space beside the right flank of the hour elements, seconds display elements below the hour elements, with markers in a space beside the left flank of the hour elements which are visually different and distinguishable from markers included in the prior displays. These time elements are preferably activated to display solely elapsed time in a timepiece which also includes, preferably, balanced, quadribalanced, enhanced quadribalanced and unidirectional segmented time displays, and enables alternately switching between the three types of displays, with each preceded by a respective ER, ES and EU prompt to identify the type of time display that is provided in a preferred order of presentation represented by such prompts.

A self powered cell phone is provided within which kinetically generated variable electrical currents are rectified to DC currents, which are delivered to an internal storage site and thereafter transmitted to the operating circuit of the cell phone, thus avoiding the need for external power sources to recharge the phone.

An ergonomic watch case, time display and setting crown are provided, with the case shaped generally in the form of an obtuse triangle and attached to a watch strap. A horizontal bisector through the case and time display is offset by a predetermined angle out of perpendicularity with a vertical bisector through the watch strap to improve alignment with a viewer's line of sight when reading the time. An apical setting crown is located at the apex of one of the two acute angles of the case to improve rotation of a crown knob in either direction with minimal resistance or obstruction from the watch case. A chime melody and icon are provided to sound a pleasing wake up call or other time set to be heard.

Enhanced control buttons are provided for a digital timepiece, each button marked with an icon which identifies its function, one icon indicative of the so marked button being operable to turn a night light on/off, another icon indicative of the so marked button being operable to access and exit from a real time setting mode, another icon indicative of the so marked button being operable to access and exit from an alarm time setting mode, said alarm button being programmable to operate in response to momentary and relatively longer pressures to perform a variety of alarm time functions, including turning on and off a similar alarm icon in the timepiece's display, turning off the alarm sound after it becomes audible following a set alarm time, and thereafter turning on the alarm icon in the watch display for repetition of the sounding of the alarm 24 hours later at the same previously set alarm time.
