The present invention relates to a control module () for controlling a smart home device (), wherein the smart home device is part of a smart home device system (). The control module comprises a system information providing unit () for providing information about the smart home device system, an allocating unit () for allocating a part of a technical resource for a function of the smart home device based on the provided information about the smart home device system, and a control unit () for controlling the smart home device such that the smart home device uses only the allocated part of the technical resource for executing the function. Thus, the smart home device system can be endowed with the function without noticeably affecting other, in particular preferred, functions of the smart home device system.

A system for adjusting a delay setting based on user input is configured to control playback of an audio segment () and control a light source to render a light effect (). The audio segment comprises a spoken description () of the light effect. The audio segment is played back at a playback moment (). The light effect is rendered at a rendering moment. A method of controlling a first lighting unit of a group of lighting units is disclosed.
