A 1,3-dipolar compound including an epoxide group is provided. The epoxide group is a 3-membered ether ring in which a first member is a carbon atom having an attachment to the dipole of the 1,3-dipolar compound and a second member is a tertiary or quaternary carbon. The use of the 1,3-dipolar compound in the modification of a diene polymer makes it possible to improve the rupture properties of a rubber composition comprising the modified polymer, without the expense of its hysteresis properties, while at the same time improving its implementation.

1,3-dipolar compound comprising an epoxide group

A rubber composition based on at least one diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler and a 1,3-dipolar compound comprising an epoxide group is provided. The epoxide group is a 3-membered ether ring in which a first member is a carbon atom exhibiting a connection to the dipole of the 1,3-dipolar compound and a second member is a tertiary or quaternary carbon. Such a rubber composition exhibits improved properties at break and an improved processing, as well as good hysteresis properties.

Rubber composition

A process for preparing a random copolymer based on at least one acyclic diene monomers and on at least one cyclic diene monomer is provided. The process comprises a step of copolymerization, in the presence of a polar agent and an anionic initiator in a polymerization solvent, of at least one acyclic diene monomer and of at least one cyclic diene monomer of which one C&#x2550;C double bond is endocyclic and conjugated to an exocyclic C&#x2550;C double bond, at a polymerization temperature below 80&#xb0; C. A molar ratio of the polar agent/function(s) of the anionic initiator capable of initiating anionic polymerization being greater than 0.1. Copolymers based on at least one acyclic diene monomer and on at least one cyclic diene monomer and the compositions containing them are also provided.

A tire comprising a rubber composition comprising a substituted diene elastomer is provided. The substituted diene elastomer comprises units bearing an A-B radical, in which: A tread comprising such a rubber composition is also provided. A rubber composition comprising such a substituted diene elastomer and at least one of the following constituents: a second diene elastomer; a reinforcing filler and, if appropriate, a coupling agent is also provided.
