The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a liquid acid concentrate for hemodialysis machines, with the following steps. In a preliminary step a water source (), an acid source (), an electrolyte tank () containing a mixture of electrolytes in exactly the quantity needed for the manufacture of the liquid acid concentrate, and a sodium chloride source () are connected to a mixing tank (). During Step a), the quantity of water needed for the manufacture of the batch of liquid acid concentrate is introduced into the mixing tank (). At Step b), the quantity of acid needed for manufacture the liquid acid concentrate is introduced into the mixing tank (), the solution is stirred until a homogeneous solution is obtained. Step c) is to repeat Sub-steps c1) and c2) until the electrolyte mixture contained in the electrolyte tank is completely dissolved. At Sub-step c1) part of the solution contained in the mixing tank () is transferred into the electrolyte tank () containing the electrolyte mixture, then at Sub-step c2) the solution contained in the electrolyte tank () is transferred into the mixing tank, leaving the still solid constituents in the electrolyte tank. At Step d) the quantity of sodium chloride needed to manufacture the liquid acid concentrate is introduced into the mixing tank (). Finally, at Step e), the solution is stirred and recirculated by taking it from the bottom the mixing tank () and reintroducing it at the top of the mixing tank until a homogeneous liquid acid concentrate is obtained. Steps a) to d) can be performed in any order, Step a) preceding always Step c).

Method, facility and tank for the manufacture of a liquid acid concentrate used for hemodialysis machines

A water source, an acid source, an electrolyte tank containing a mixture of electrolytes in exactly the quantity needed for the manufacture of the liquid acid concentrate, and a sodium chloride source are connected to a mixing tank. A quantity of water needed for the manufacture of the batch of liquid acid concentrate is introduced into the mixing tank. A quantity of acid needed for manufacture of the liquid acid concentrate is introduced into the mixing tank, the solution is stirred until a homogeneous solution is obtained. Part of the solution contained in the mixing tank is transferred into the electrolyte tank, then the solution contained in the electrolyte tank is transferred into the mixing tank. A quantity of sodium chloride needed to manufacture the liquid acid concentrate is introduced into the mixing tank. The solution is stirred and recirculated until a homogeneous liquid acid concentrate is obtained.

The present invention relates to a novel dry acid concentrate (DAC) for a dialysis liquid and to a dialysis liquid, which is made from said concentrate, and which may be used for purifying blood. The invention further relates to a method of making the dry acid concentrate as well as the dialysis liquid. It also relates to a container () comprising said acid concentrate, and which is&#x2014;in certain embodiments&#x2014;specially adapted to a dialysis unit.

Dry acid concentrate in granulate form

A combination includes a container having a connecting portion, and a fluid preparation device, in particular a dialysis machine. The fluid preparation device is configured for mounting and connecting the connecting portion of the container. The fluid preparation device includes at least one line in fluid communication with an interior of the container in the connected position of the container. The container is filled with a first medium, and includes a reservoir containing a second medium. The fluid preparation device includes a rod-shaped element for opening the reservoir so that the first medium and the second medium are mixed with each other.

A dry peritoneal dialysis (PD) concentrate system may be used in connection with a PD cycler. The dry PD concentrate system includes a concentrate container with at least two concentrate compartments, and at least one of the compartments contains a dry PD concentrate component. At least one of the concentrate compartments has a medical fluid outlet, and at least one of the concentrate compartments has a diluent inlet.

A container containing a concentrate for dialysis includes a pouch or cartridge containing a solid concentrate of constituents for the dialysis solution, the pouch or cartridge being closed by a connector having a filling channel extending completely through the connector, which is for filling the pouch or cartridge with the solid concentrate, means for introducing a solution-forming liquid into the pouch or cartridge and for extracting the solution obtained, these introduction and extraction means having at least one connecting portion for connecting them to a corresponding port of the dialysis machine. The filling channel is closed by a stopper which has a reservoir containing a second constituent or group of constituents for the dialysis solution, and means for producing an outlet opening in the reservoir contacting the inside of the reservoir with the side of the stopper located in the container.

Container for dialysis

A device for putting in solution a powdery concentrate includes a liquid supply pipe (), an extraction pipe () with a valve (), and a transfer pipe () connected to a junction point, the transfer pipe being for connecting to a receptacle () containing the concentrate. The junction point is in the constriction of a venturi tube (), the supply pipe () being connected to the convergent chamber () and the extraction pipe () to the divergent chamber (). If the valve () is closed, the liquid leaves the venturi tube through the vacuum tapping to enter the receptacle. When the valve () is opened, the liquid leaves the venturi tube through the divergence chamber, causing a pressure drop in the vacuum tapping. The saturated liquid contained in the receptacle is then sucked and entrained by the liquid passing through the venturi.
