Method of evaluating an electromagnetic field

A computer-implemented method for detecting and localizing faults in an antenna array comprises performing fault detection on the antenna array to identify the presence of at least one faulty antenna element of the antenna array. The fault detection is performed using a machine learning technique. It is determined whether the antenna array is faulty or non-faulty, based on a result of the performed fault detection. The at least one faulty antenna element is localized if the antenna array is determined to be faulty, using a machine learning technique.

Method and device for detecting and localizing faults in an antenna array, and test system

An over-the-air (OTA) test system is described. The OTA test system includes an antenna positioner with at least one test antenna. The OTA test system further including a DUT positioner, wherein the DUT positioner is configured to hold a device under test in a measurement zone. The antenna positioner is configured to rotate the at least one test antenna around the measurement zone by adapting an elevation angle of the test antenna. The DUT positioner is configured to tilt the device under test by a predefined angle with respect to a height direction of the OTA test system, thereby adapting an elevation angle of the device under test. Further, an OTA test method is described.

The invention relates to a method for measuring the specific absorption rate SAR of a mobile device under test DUT enabled for a combined LTE RF and 5G RF transmission, the method comprising the following steps: a.) Providing a mobile device under test DUT operable in LTE RF and 5G standard, b.) Setting the DUT in a mode to transmit with maximum power level according to the 5G standard, and at the same time transmitting with lower power level of LTE RF standard, c.) Performing a SAR scan and measuring the 5G signal, without taking into account any contribution from the LTE RF signal, d.) Setting the DUT in a mode to transmit with maximum power at maximum power in LTE RF standard, without transmitting according to the 5G standard, e.) A method of simulating an effect of interactions between a device under test and a scattering object by of a hybrid over-the-air (OTA) test system is described. The method includes the steps of determining at least one radiation parameter of the device under test, wherein the at least one radiation parameter is associated with electromagnetic waves emitted by the device under test; determining an equivalent source on a Huygens surface based on the at least one determined radiation parameter, wherein the equivalent source is associated with the device under test; assigning material properties to a Huygens box confined by the Huygens surface, wherein the material properties are associated with at least one of reflection of electromagnetic waves and absorption of electromagnetic waves; and simulating an electromagnetic interaction between the device under test and the scattering object based on the determined equivalent source and based on the assigned material properties.

A method of performing a measurement of a device under test by using an antenna array. The method includes: providing an antenna array that includes several antenna elements; providing a device under test configured to communicate over-the-air; locating the device under test at a first test location, thereby establishing a first relative distance between the device under test and the antenna array; performing a first measurement over-the-air when the first relative distance is provided between the device under test and the antenna array, thereby obtaining first measurement results; moving the antenna array and/or the device under test, thereby establishing a second relative distance between the device under test and the antenna array; and performing a second measurement over-the-air when the second relative distance is provided between the device under test and the antenna array, thereby obtaining second measurement results, wherein a quiet zone is established, in which the device under test is located, and wherein the size of the quiet zone is derived from a combination of at least two transfer functions associated with the first measurement results and the second measurement results. Method of performing a measurement of a device under test

A method of determining an equivalent source associated with a device under test by an over-the-air test (OTA) test system is described. The OTA test system includes an analysis circuit and at least one measurement antenna. The method includes the steps of: conducting, by the at least one measurement antenna, at least two sets of measurements of electromagnetic waves emitted by the device under test, thereby generating measurement signals associated with the electromagnetic waves; determining, by the analysis circuit, at least one radiation parameter of the device under test based on the measurement signals, wherein the at least one radiation parameter is associated with the electromagnetic waves emitted by the device under test; and determining, by the analysis circuit, an equivalent source on a Huygens surface based on the at least one determined radiation parameter, wherein the equivalent source is associated with the device under test. The at least two sets of measurements are conducted on at least two measurement surfaces, wherein the at least two measurement surfaces are different from each other. Method of determining an equivalent source and over-the-air test system

A method of manufacturing an antenna array is described. The method includes: providing several antennas; determining at least one set of quasi-random positions for the antennas based on a predefined algorithm for limiting aliasing effects, wherein the positions are arranged on a manifold having at least one dimension in an irregular manner; and arranging the antennas according to the at least one set of quasi-random positions obtained from the predefined algorithm for limiting aliasing effects. A measurement system for performing measurements. The measurement system includes a positioning system for positioning at least one device to be positioned. The positioning system includes at least two rotational positioner modules configured to perform a rotational movement, thereby rotating the device to be positioned, as well as at least one linear positioner module configured to perform a linear movement, thereby translationally moving the device to be positioned. The linear positioner module includes a mounting interface for the device to be positioned. The rotational positioner modules and the linear positioner module together are configured to move the device to be positioned from a starting point of the movement. Measurement system

A fixture and a measurement system are provided. The fixture is adapted for electrically connecting a measurement device with a device under test, DUT, in particular a wireless DUT, and for mechanically holding the DUT. The fixture comprises a clamp for clamping the DUT; a male plug for engaging a mating socket of the DUT; and an electrical cable connected to the plug on one end and connectable with the measurement device at its other end. The fixture is arranged to mechanically hold the DUT such that the DUT can be rotated relative to the measurement device. The fixture reduces a shielding effect in respect of antenna modules of the DUT.

An over-the-air (OTA) measurement system is described. The OTA measurement system includes a plurality of measurement antennas, a DUT positioner, and a controller (e.g., control circuit). The DUT positioner is configured to position a device under test at a test location. At least two measurement antennas of the plurality of measurement antennas are arranged at different distances from the test location. The at least two measurement antennas are arranged at different elevation angles and/or at different azimuth angles with respect to the test location. The controller is configured to control the DUT positioner to rotate the device under test at the test location in azimuth and/or elevation. The controller is configured to control the DUT positioner to rotate the device under test into a first orientation for a first OTA power measurement by a first one of the at least two measurement antennas. The controller is configured to control the DUT positioner to rotate the device under test into a second orientation for a second OTA power measurement by a second one of the at least two measurement antennas. A relative orientation between the device under test in the first orientation and the first one of the at least two measurement antennas is the same as a relative orientation between the device under test in the second orientation and the second one of the at least two measurement antennas. Further, an OTA measurement method for performing OTA measurements on a device under test by an OTA measurement system is described.

Over-the-air measurement system and over-the-air measurement method

A measurement system for testing a device under test includes a signal generation and/or analysis equipment, several antennas, several reflectors and a test location for the device under test. The antennas are connected with the signal generation and/or analysis equipment in a signal-transmitting manner Each of the antennas is configured to transmit and/or receive an electromagnetic signal so that a beam path is provided between the respective antenna and the test location. The electromagnetic signal is reflected by the respective reflector so that the electromagnetic signal corresponds to a planar wave. Each antenna and the corresponding reflector together are configured to provide a corresponding quiet zone at the test location. At least one of the quiet zones provided is larger than the at least one other quiet zone and/or at least one of the antennas is configured to operate at a different frequency compared to the at least one other antenna. Further, a method of performing an over-the-air test of a device under test is described.

Measurement system and method of performing an over-the-air test

A system for characterizing a quiet zone of an over-the-air testing space includes at least one measurement antenna and at least one scattering member. The measurement antenna is configured to at least transmit electromagnetic signals. The scattering member includes predefined scattering properties. The scattering member is enabled to scatter the electromagnetic signals so as to generate scattered electromagnetic signals that are transmitted in a defined manner. Further, a method of characterizing a quiet zone of an over-the-air testing space is described.
