Disclosed are compositions and methods for multilayer films, which, in one embodiment may comprise a core layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the multilayer film may include a first skin layer comprising, consisting essentially of, or consisting of low-density polyethylene, optionally linear, and at least about 80 wt. % of high-density polyethylene, as well as a second skin layer comprising either: (i) one or more low-density polyethylenes, any or all of them optionally being linear; or (ii) one or more polypropylene-based copolymers. The multilayer film may be oriented in at least one direction.

In embodiments herein, the invention relates to a multilayer printable polymeric film including: (a) at least one layer A including one or more polyolefins and having a first side and a second side; (b) a layer B including one or more polyolefins and having a first side and a second side, where the first side of layer B is located on the second side of layer A; and (c) a printable coating located on the first side of layer A; wherein at least one of layer A or B comprises 0.01 to 50.0 wt. % of at least one polyether-polyolefin block copolymer, based on the weight of the polymers comprising the layer; and wherein the multilayer printable polymeric film has a kinetic coefficient of friction less than 0.65; and a surface tension of greater than about 35 mN/m; on one or both sides of the film.

Antistatic films and methods to manufacture the same

Provided is a polypropylene film, and a method of making the film, the film comprising at least one core layer sandwiched between at least two skin layers, the layers comprising a core layer comprising polypropylene and within the range of from 20 wt % to 50 wt %, by weight of the materials in the core layer, of a propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin elastomer having within the range of from 5 wt % to 25 wt % &#x3b1;-olefin derived units, by weight of the copolymer; and skin layers comprising one or more polymers having a melting point within the range of from 125&#xb0; C. to 160&#xb0; C., a Shore D Hardness within the range of from 55 to 70, and a Flexural Modulus of at least 600 MPa; wherein the film has a Haze value of less than 10%, the film being biaxially oriented but shrinkable substantially only in the MD.

Uniaxially shrinkable, biaxially oriented polypropylene films

Heat-sealable, multi-layer composite packaging structures that are suitable for packaging and having improved sealing properties and simplified construction as compared to prior art composite film constructions are disclosed. The inventive film structure includes a first substrate, such as paper, bonded such as by extrusion lamination, to a sealable, high-barrier film. This inventive 'paper-adhesive-polymer' lamination may replace prior art 'paper-adhesive-foil-adhesive' foil-based tandem laminations. An improved or comparable polymer film substrate may replace the &#x201c;foil-adhesive&#x201d; layer components of the popular incumbent prior art structure.

Sealable packaging structures and applications related thereto

A film structure including at least a base layer containing a thermoplastic polymer and at least an outer layer containing a low melting point polymer. Methods of manufacturing the film structure, including the steps of coextruding melts corresponding to the individual layers of the film structure through a die and thereafter: simultaneously biaxially stretching the coextruded film sheet; or sequentially biaxially stretching the coextruded film sheet, wherein the machine-direction orientation (MDO) is performed with a radiant-heated MDO stretcher. An extrusion-coated film structure exhibiting strong bond adhesion, and a method of manufacturing the same are also provided.

Thermoplastic film structures with a low melting point outer layer

The present invention relates to oriented or hot-blown shrink films which may be manufactured from by a number of processes. The oriented films may be manufactured by double bubble, LISIM, tape bubble, trapped bubble or tenter framing processes. The films of the present invention are useful as a shrink film to package and label a variety of products. The films exhibit a high degree of MD shrinkage in a very controlled and consistent manner while providing a number of other positive characteristics such as optical clarity, puncture and abrasion resistance, controlled gauge, and superior web winding and handling characteristics. The shrink control layers of the films of the present invention contain a modifier component selected from plastomers and/or metallocene catalyzed ethylene-propylene copolymers and blends thereof.

Heat-shrinkable polymeric films

The present invention relates to a biaxially oriented film having a water wettable surface, the film containing a water wettable porous high density polyethylene (HDPE) surface layer. The water wettable surface layer contains porous HDPE and a silicone glycol coating impregnated in the pore of the HDPE surface layer. The biaxially oriented water wettable film is useful for ink jet printing.

Porous biaxially oriented high density polyethylene film with hydrophilic properties

A heat-sealable multilayer film comprising: (a) an upper heat-sealable layer comprising (I) an ethylene polymer, copolymer, or terpolymer and (ii) a particulate, crosslinked hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane having a mean particle size of from about 0.5 &mgr;m to about 20.0 &mgr;m, as a combined slip agent and antiblocking agent; (b) an intermediate core layer comprising a propylene polymer; and (c) a lower heat-sealable layer consisting essentially of (I) an ethylene polymer, copolymer, or terpolymer, (ii) a particulate, crosslinked hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane having a mean particle size of from about 0.5 &mgr;m to about 20.0 &mgr;m, as a combined slip agent and antiblocking agent; and (iii) from about 0.15 wt% to about 1.5 wt% of a liquid, hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane. The upper heat-sealable sealable layer does not contain a liquid polysiloxane, but may have a coating of liquid polysiloxane transferred from the lower heat-sealable layer.
