A surgical suction mat for collecting and evacuating surgical fluids, the mat including a foam body having a surrounding border; a series of grooves defined on a first portion of the foam body and located interior of the border and defined substantially across the foam body, the grooves uniformly increasing in depth from adjacent a first side of the border of the foam body to a location adjacent an opposite second side of the border of the foam body, the grooves each being closed at a first end proximate the first side of the foam body and open an opposite second end; a plurality of spaced apart upper surfaces in-between the grooves and being of substantially uniform elevation to permit a relatively uniform and level upper mat surface on which a user can stand; a collection channel defined on a second portion of the foam body, the channel extending substantially perpendicular across the grooves, the collection channel being closed at each end and along one side of its length and the other side of the channel being open to and in flow communication with the grooves; and a suction fitting in fluid communication with the channel and placeable in flow communication with a source of suction to evacuate fluids from the channel through the suction fitting.

Surgical suction floor mat

A temperature controlled fluid therapy system includes a reservoir for containing hot or cold fluid, a pump with a submersible motor disposed within the reservoir, a watertight blanket for containing the hot or cold fluid, and output and intake conduits for circulating the fluid between the reservoir and the blanket. The system includes a first temperature sensor disposed within the reservoir for measuring the temperature of the fluid in the reservoir, and a second temperature sensor disposed adjacent the blanket for measuring the temperature of the fluid in the blanket. A power supply provides power to the pump motor. A controller controls the power provided to the motor based upon the first and second temperature signals, thereby controlling the fluid flow rate through the blanket and hence the temperature of the fluid in the blanket. When the temperature of the fluid in the reservoir is within a hot temperature range, such as 90&#xb0; F. to 120&#xb0; F., the controller maintains the temperature of the fluid in the blanket within the hot temperature range. When the temperature of the fluid in the reservoir is within a cold temperature range, such as 45&#xb0; F. to 65&#xb0; F., the controller maintains the temperature of the fluid in the blanket within the cold temperature range.

Hot and cold fluid therapy system

According to the present invention, a temperature controlled therapy device is provided which maintains a desired temperature in a fluid. The temperature controlled therapy device includes a fluid reservoir, a temperature controlled fluid, a watertight blanket having an internal space located therewith, a conduit connected between an exit port of the reservoir and an entry port of the blanket and between an exit port of the blanket and an entry port of the reservoir for defining a fluid circuit within which the temperature controlled fluid may circulate, a pump for circulating the temperature controlled fluid through the fluid circuit, a differential temperature sensor for generating an output signal proportional to a difference in fluid temperature in the blanket and a temperature at a remote location, an absolute temperature sensor for generating an output signal proportional to the temperature at the remote location, a control circuit having as inputs the outputs of the differential temperature sensor and the absolute temperature sensor for generating a control signal for operating the pump in order to maintain a defined temperature range in the fluid in the blanket, and a power supply for supplying power to the device.
