The present invention provides an elastomeric composition for making elastomeric articles having at least one layer, such as but not limited to condoms, which have a deformation stress or modulus below about 1.5 MPa at 500% extension, comprising at least one polymeric material, at least one plasticizer and optionally at least one coating. The elastomeric articles also have unique tactile and tensile properties, such as conformability and low radius of curvature.

A surface treating device includes a member adapted for engaging a surface to be treated and a driver operatively associated with the member. The driver is adapted for imparting a linear reciprocating motion to the member, wherein the member engages the surface in a manner substantially perpendicular to the surface to be treated. The surface treating device further includes a dispenser for delivering a fluid drawn from a discrete fluid source to the surface being treated by the member.

The present invention provides a time indicator and method of use for determining and visually displaying the passage of a predetermined period of time. The time indicator of the present invention comprises a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a dye support layer coated with a masking layer, which containing a viewing window therethrough, and a non-curing ink or dye permeable polymer layer containing a migrating agent. The bottom portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a base support layer and a migrating ink or dye printed on the top surface of the base segment. The time indicator apparatus further comprises a removable impervious film or middle layer, which can be removed allowing the top and bottom portions to come into contact with one another, thereby activating the time indicator. The time indicator of the present invention allows one to follow the uniform directional visual dye migration through the viewing window.

A method of preventing a deformable container from deforming when it contains a solution, which solution contains a dissolved gas or a species which under storage conditions is capable of generating a gaseous species is disclosed. The method is to provide a headspace in the container which headspace is enriched in the gaseous species which the solution is prone to give up to the atmosphere in the absence of such enrichment.

Reduction or prevention of container deformation due to solutions contained therein

A storage stable aqueous solution or aqueous gel of zinc ions in the presence of bicarbonate ions is disclosed. The solution comprises: (a) a source of zinc ion, (b) a source of a stabilizing anion which can stabilize soluble zinc and bicarbonate and/or carbonate in solution; (c) a source of bicarbonate ion; and (d) a solvent therefor. The solvent comprises a major proportion of water. The zinc salt is present in an amount suitable for the intended purpose; the stabilizing anion in an amount B of at least 1.2 equivalents per equivalent of zinc ion; and the bicarbonate ion cannot exceed certain levels which are related to the level of the stabilizing anion.

A method and abrasive blast medium for cleaning contaminants from electronic hardware. The abrasive blast medium is a pure, water soluble alkaline salt of bicarbonates and carbonates. The particle size of the alkaline salts range from about 20 to no larger than about 300 microns in diameter. The Mohs hardness of the alkaline salt particles is no greater than about 5.0. The blast cleaning conditions employed to clean the electronic hardware are mild. Blast air pressures range from about 10 to about 50 psi and the medium flow rate ranges from about 1 to about 10 lbs/min.

A method of cleaning a solid surface which is particularly effective for a surface having a complicated structure including slots and holes comprises immersing the solid surface in a cleaning slurry comprising a cleaning liquid and abrasive particles which are soluble in the cleaning liquid, the cleaning liquid comprising a saturated solution so as to greatly reduce the dissolution of the abrasive particles in the cleaning liquid.

A storage stable aqueous or aqueous/alcoholic solution of zinc ions in the presence of bicarbonate ions is disclosed. The solution comprises: (a) a source of zinc ion, (b) a source of a stabilizing anion which can stabilize soluble zinc and bicarbonate in solution; (c) a source of bicarbonate ion; and (d) a solvent therefor. The solvent comprises: (i) a major proportion of water; (ii) optionally a minor amount of a lower monohydric alcohol; and (iii) optionally a minor amount of a humectant having at least 3 hydroxy groups. The zinc salt is present in an amount A sufficient to provide from about 0.01 weight % to about 1 weight % zinc ion; the stabilizing anion in an amount B of at least 1.2 equivalents per equivalent of zinc ion; and the bicarbonate ion cannot exceed certain levels which are related to the level of the stabilizing anion.

A slurry blasting process employing a liquid carrier medium such as water contains a dispersed water-soluble particulate abrasive to enhance blast cleaning efficiency. Slurry blasting is performed at liquid pressures below 500 psi with an air to slurry mass ratio of generally at least about 0.05. The slurry can be recovered and continuously reused.

A blast media is provided for cleaning a metal surface by wet blasting and which comprises a particulate abrasive such as sodium bicarbonate and a corrosion inhibitor comprising an alkali metal phosphate. The corrosion inhibitor has been found to greatly reduce the discoloration of metals which have been wet blasted with alkaline salt abrasives.

A blast media for use in wet blasting to clean contaminants from a substrate surface comprises abrasive particles, at least one surfactant and a defoaming agent so as to reduce the amount of foam which is produced during the wet blasting process.

An improved slurry blasting process is disclosed wherein a liquid carrier medium such as water contains a dispersed water-soluble particulate abrasive to enhance blast cleaning efficiency and wherein the liquid carrier comprises a saturated solution such as the dissolved particulate abrasive so as to minimize the dissolution of the particulate abrasive therein. Slurry blasting at relatively low pressures below 500 psi and at room temperature provides effective and cost efficient cleaning of substrates. The slurry can be recovered and continuously reused. A recrystallization agent can be added to the slurry to increase abrasive particulate growth in the saturated solution.

A blast media for stripping contaminants from a solid surface comprises water soluble abrasive particles and a surfactant which reduces the amount of water soluble residues of blast media remaining on the targeted surface and which enables any residues which remain to be readily removed by fresh water.
