A navigation path determination system includes wireless access point devices positioned around an indoor space. While located at different indoor space locations around the indoor space, user devices transmit wireless communications with the wireless access point devices, identify wireless access point device/user device relative positioning information in respective wireless communications with each of the wireless access point devices, and transmit the relative positioning information to a navigation system. The navigation system uses the relative positioning information to determine a respective user path through the indoor space by each user device, and stores the respective user paths in a navigation path database for later use in determining a navigation path through the indoor space. The relative positioning information for each indoor space location may be unique combination of sets of wireless access point device identifiers and time-of-flight information for wireless communication transmitted by corresponding wireless access point devices.

In addition, the system includes an antenna frame coupled to the gear. The portable information handling system also includes an antenna coupled to the antenna frame, the antenna operable to communicate wirelessly with a wireless-enabled device.

Systems and methods are disclosed for positioning an antenna in a portable information handling system. A portable information handling system includes a housing having a first housing portion and a second housing portion. The portable information handling system also includes a hinge assembly rotationally coupling the first and second housing portions. The portable information handling system also includes an antenna disposed within the first housing portion, the antenna operable to transmit radio waves. The portable information handling system further includes an antenna aperture formed within the first housing portion. The second housing portion comprises a radio frequency (RF) permeable region comprising RF permeable material, the RF permeable region located in proximity to the antenna aperture when the portable information handling system is in tablet mode, tablet mode representing the first housing portion rotated approximately 360 degrees from the second housing portion.

A hinge barrel antenna system includes a first hinge device and a second hinge device that couple a chassis base to a display device. A hinge barrel extends between the first hinge device and the second hinge device. A hinge barrel support member is included in the hinge barrel and defines a first slot that extends through the hinge barrel support member. A feed structure is coupled to the hinge barrel support member adjacent the first slot by a circuit board. The first slot is dimensioned such that the combination of the first slot and the feed structure emit radio waves having a first predetermined frequency when the feed structure is activated.

When the head is in a first position relative to the base, the head transceiver may transmit (or receive) the signal via the second port. When the head is in a second position relative to the base, the head transceiver may receive transmit (or receive) the signal via the third port.
