While stripping an electrical cable in a stripping device of a cable-processing system, detection by an electrically conductive cutting device with a sensor circuit takes place if contact with a conductor occurs. By connecting the sensor circuit to the cutting device a measuring capacitance is developed. Before incising the electrical cable, a capacitance value of the measurement capacitance is determined during a first measurement cycle in which a charge equalization is carried out between the measurement capacitance and a reference capacitance. A parameter is determined in a further measurement cycle in which a charge equalization is again carried out between the measurement capacitance and the reference capacitance, wherein, relative to the first capacitance, the parameter displays a change in the capacitance after incising into the electrical cable. A signal is produced, if the change is greater than an established threshold value, indicating contact with the conductor.

Detecting conductors in a cable-stripping process

A method for stripping a cable, the cable having a conductor encompassed by an insulation and extending in a longitudinal direction, includes cutting into the insulation with stripping blades, after which the insulation is removed by sliding the stripping blades in the longitudinal direction. During the removal procedure, the longitudinal position of the stripping blades is detected if it has been determined by a detection device that at least one of the stripping blades has come in contact with the conductor. Based on the longitudinal position of one or more contacts with the conductor, a classification of the cable as adequately or poorly stripped is carried out.

Method for stripping a cable

A wire stripper includes a displacement current detection and current-voltage conversion circuit that when stripping blades contact a wire core of an electric wire in a process of stripping a coating of the electric wire at a time when a predetermined time t has elapsed since a square DC signal was applied to the stripping blades from an electric signal generator circuit through a signal line, detects a displacement current of the signal line, converts the current into a voltage, and holds the voltage; and a determination circuit that determines whether the voltage of the signal line is a voltage level Vok at a time of non-contact or a voltage level Vng at a time of contact of the stripping blades with the wire core so as to detect the contact of the stripping blades with the wire core.
