An LED retrofit lamp is described. The LED retrofit lamp includes LEDs arranged into at least a first group of LEDs and a second group of LEDs, power contacts, an interface and a controller. The power contacts receive electrical power to operate the LEDs. The interface supplies control signals to operate one or more of the first group and the second group of LEDs. The controller receives the control signals and operates the first group of LEDs and the second group of LEDs independent from each other based on the received control signals.

An LED module for a vehicle headlight and a vehicle headlight are described. The LED module includes an array of LEDs () and an optic () opposite the array of LEDs (). The optic () is configured to receive light from the array of LEDs () and direct at least part of the received light. A camera is described that includes a first imager and a processor communicatively coupled to the first imager. The first imager captures images of a roadway on which a vehicle is located when operating. The processor, when operating, generates a signal to cause a first hybridized device in the vehicle to project a first patterned light on to an object on the roadway, generates a signal to cause the first imager to capture an image of the first patterned light projected on the object, receives the image from the first imager, and detects the object on the roadway based on the first patterned light captured in the image.

Vehicle camera vision and control system and method

A lighting system for a vehicle is described, which includes a first hybridized device, a second hybridized device and a controller. The first hybridized device includes a first array of light emitting devices that illuminate a roadway on which the vehicle is located when operating. The second hybridized device includes a second array of light emitting devices that illuminate the roadway on which the vehicle is located when operating. The controller is electrically coupled to the first and second hybridized devices. Controllable headlamp system

An LED retrofit lamp for a projection headlight system comprises a heat dissipating body portion and a substantially rectangular substrate. A first LED group is mounted on a first surface of the substrate and a second LED group is mounted on a second surface. A support bracket is configured to engage longitudinal sides of the substrate to mechanically support the substrate in alignment with a central optical axis of the headlight system so that light emitted by the first and second LED groups parallel to the first and second surfaces illuminates corresponding top and bottom segments of a cooperating reflector with sufficient intensity for projection headlight system to form a beam having substantially homogenous light intensity.

A method for manufacturing light emitting elements is described and includes providing an un-coated light converting platelet. The un-coated light converting platelet has a top surface, a bottom surface, and side surfaces. A plurality of LED dies is provided. Side surfaces of the un-coated light converting platelet are coated with an at least partly reflective material to form a coated light converting platelet. The coated light converting platelet is separated into light converting tiles. An outline of the light converting tiles substantially corresponds to an outline of one of the plurality of LED dies. The light converting tiles and the plurality of LED dies are assembled to form light emitting elements.

Method for manufacturing light emitting elements, light emitting element, lighting device and automotive headlamp

A light-emitting diode (LED) can have a light-emitting surface that can emit emitted light. A filter, disposed on the light-emitting surface, can be at least partially transmissive in a first area and at least partially reflective in a second area. The first area can direct at least some of the emitted light through the filter to form shaped light that extends over an area corresponding to a shape of a static light pattern. The second area can reflect at least some of the emitted light into the LED through the light-emitting surface. A lens can bring the shaped light to a focus that has the shape of the static light pattern. To increase a contrast of the focus, an absorber, disposed on the second area of the filter, can absorb emitted light that is transmitted through the second area of the filter.

Projecting a static light pattern or symbol

A lighting system and a method of operating a lighting module are described. The lighting module includes a heat sink a first LED element mounted on the heat sink emits light as a low beam pattern. A second LED element mounted on the heat sink emits light as a high beam pattern. A driver circuit electrically connected to the first and second LED elements to selectively supply electrical power for operation. The driver circuit is disposed to operate in a first and a second mode. In the first mode, to provide a low beam illumination, the first LED element is operated in a high power state while the second LED element is turned off. In the second mode, to provide a high beam illumination, the second LED element is operated in a high power state, while the first LED element is operated in a dimmed state.

A lighting device according to the invention comprises at least one semiconductor layer; at least one light emission surface comprising an array of high luminance areas configured to emit light at a first local luminance level and low luminance areas configured to emit no light or to emit light at a second local luminance level lower than the first local luminance level; a plurality of semiconductor light emitting devices formed in the semiconductor layer to define the plurality of high luminance areas; wherein the high luminance areas and the low luminance areas are arranged in accordance with a predefined light emission profile of the light emission surface.

Lighting device

A lighting device contains light-emitting elements and has an elongated shape. The lighting device has a housing that has reflective side walls extending in a longitudinal direction of the housing; a cavity formed between the reflective side walls; and light-emitting elements arranged at least partially along the longitudinal direction relative to each other in the cavity. An opening of the cavity forms a light-emitting area, A width of the cavity expands from the light-emitting elements towards the opening at least in sections. A reflective element covers at least a section of the opening and reflects a part of light emitted from the light-emitting elements towards the cavity and reduces a width of the light-emitting area compared to a width of the opening.

The invention describes a method of manufacturing an LED carrier assembly, which method comprises the steps of providing a carrier comprising a mounting surface with mounting pads arranged to receive a number of LED dies; embedding an alignment magnet in the carrier; providing a number of LED dies, wherein an LED die comprises a number of magnetic die pads; and aligning the magnetic die pads to the mounting pads by arranging the LED dies over the mounting surface of the carrier within magnetic range of the alignment magnet. The present disclosure relates to a lighting device comprising light-emitting elements such as light-emitting diodes arranged on a substrate. The object to provide a lighting device comprising multiple light-emitting elements and light guides, wherein the thermal sensitivity of the lighting device is reduced in a particularly simple manner, is solved in that the lighting device comprises: a lens with a light entry side and a light exit side; light guides, each light guide being arranged in optical contact to at least one of the light-emitting elements and being configured to guide light emitted by the at least one of the light-emitting elements towards the light entry side of the lens; and a transparent stabilizer element being arranged in mechanical contact to the light exit side of the lens, wherein the transparent stabilizer element is configured to define the shape of the light exit side of the lens at least in regions.
