The present invention relates to cement dispersant that is a copolymerization product of a first monomer (A) comprising a carboxylic acid, a second monomer (B) comprising an alkoxylated allyl alcohol sulfate, and, optionally, a third monomer (C) comprising an alkoxylated allyl alcohol. The cement dispersant according to the invention provides improved slump life properties and water reduction properties in cement admixtures.

Cement dispersant and methods of making and using the same

The present invention provides a plaster composition that includes calcined gypsum and a naphthalene sulfonate-aldehyde condensate alkali salt polymer having a weight average molecular weight from about 17,000 to about 47,000. The present invention also provides a method of forming a plaster composition that includes belending calcined gypsum and a naphthalene sulfonate-aldehyde condensate alkali salt polymer having a weight average molecular weight from about 17,000 to about 47,000 together to form a dry blend and contacting the dry blend with water to form a hardenable aqueous slurry.

Plaster composition and method of making same

The present invention provides a dispersant and foaming agent combination that is useful in the production of gypsum wallboard and other aqueous cementitious products, a method of forming a gypsum wallboard and a gypsum wallboard. The dispersant in the combination according to the invention is a naphthalene sulfonate-aldehyde condensate alkali salt polymer having a weight average molecular weight of from about 17,000 to about 47,000. The alkali is preferably an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal. The aldehyde is preferably formaldehyde. The foaming agent used in the combination according to the invention is a soap, preferably an alkali salt of an alkyl ether sulfate and/or an alkyl sulfate. The combination of a high molecular weight dispersant and a foaming agent produces a gypsum wallboard core effect that more efficiently entrains air (i.e., creates void space), thereby lowering overall board weight without detrimentally affecting strength. A gypsum wallboard formed using the dispersant and foaming agent combination according to the invention exhibits a higher nail pull value than gypsum wallboard formed using a conventional dispersant and a foaming agent at the same solids loading ratio.

Method of making wallboard

A dispersant for use with concrete or cement, and a concrete or cement admixture that comprises a cementitious material, water, and the dispersant. The dispersant includes a polymeric derivative of carboxylic acid, and has a sulfur-containing moiety that is covalently bonded thereto. Adding the dispersant to the cementitious material and water improves the rheological properties of the admixture.

Concrete or cement dispersant and method of use

The present invention provides a sulfonated coal tar distillate salt polymer that is a condensation product of an aldehyde, preferably formaldehyde, and a sulfonated middle fraction obtained during coal tar distillation. The middle fraction includes from about 40% to about 95% by weight naphthalene and from about 5% to about 60% by weight of a plurality of compounds selected from the group consisting of quinoline, indene, biphenyl, indane, acenaphthene, anthracene, phenanthrene, methyl naphthalene, cresol, phenol, xylenol, and tetralin. The present invention also provides a method of forming a sulfonated coal tar distillate salt polymer. The method includes sulfonating the middle fraction to form a middle fraction sulfonic acid mass, optionally adding a first portion of water to the middle fraction sulfonic acid mass to form a mixture, reacting the mixture and an aldehyde to form a condensate, optionally adding a second portion of water to dilute the condensate, and adding a base to form a sulfonated middle fraction salt polymer. Sulfonated middle fraction salt polymers formed in accordance with the method of the invention are useful as dispersants and plasticizers in aqueous cementitious slurries.

Automatic flushing, lid raising and seat raising arrangements for toilets include a tank top having optical sensors integral therewith so that standard flush tanks and tops may be used with only the tops being slightly altered to accommodate the optical sensors. The flushing arrangement is readily mountable on standard overflow pipes and provides automatic flushing while also allowing manual flushing. The lid and seat raising and lowering actuators are arranged in a single unit readily attachable to a standard toilet bowl using substantially standard lids and seats.

An automatic flushing system for a tank-type toilet. The automatic flushing system includes one or more infrared transmitters that transmit an infrared signal to a sensing area directly in front of a toilet bowl of the toilet. The presence of a user in the sensing area is detected by the system from a reflection of the transmitted infrared beam off of the user. Detection of the user in the sensing area for a predetermined minimal period of time causes an automatic courtesy flush. Once the user has left the sensing area, the automatic flushing system will provide a main flush. The automatic flushing system includes a lift arm operated by a flush motor positioned within the toilet tank. Activation of the motor causes the lift arm to push against a flush arm in the toilet tank to flush the toilet. The lift arm is positioned beneath the flush arm to allow for manual flushing.

An automatic toilet seat device which will cause a toilet seat to be either raised or lowered at the push of a single button and further, will automatically lower the toilet seat after the flush action of the toilet. A first switch associated with the device will, when activated, cause the toilet seat to be raised by an electric motor. Once the toilet user has flushed the toilet, a float switch associated with a tank of the toilet will cause the motor to lower the toilet seat. The control circuit controlling the automatic toilet seat device is microprocessor controlled and includes an over-current detection circuit. The over-current detection circuit will detect over-current in the motor when the seat is completely raised or lowered such that the microprocessor will stop the motor from turning.
