Access terminals are adapted to facilitate automated wireless communication interactions based on implicit user cues. According to one example, an access terminal can obtain a plurality of user cues, including user cues from at least two primary sensor inputs, as well as other optional user cues. The access terminal may identify the occurrence of a predefined combination of user cues from among the plurality of user cues. In response to the identification of the predefined combination of user cues, the access terminal may affect a wireless communication link with an access terminal associated with another user. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Devices and methods for facilitating wireless communications based on implicit user cues

Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products are described for using context-aware recommendation techniques to facilitate content discovery on a mobile device platform. In particular, the context-aware recommendation techniques evaluate both a current device context and a social context to generate application relevance scores for each of a number of applications downloaded to a mobile device. Application representations on a graphical user interface (GUI) of the mobile device are rearranged, resized, and/or otherwise affected according to their respective application relevance scores. In certain configurations, one or more applications are pinned, thereby altering (e.g., reducing or eliminating) how changes in their respective application relevance scores affect display of their respective application representations on the GUI of the mobile device.

Producing dynamic force feedback may include activating a motion induction device, which accelerates and decelerates a mass to create tapping within the device. The amplitude and frequency of the tapping may be configured to produce sequences of taps to alert the user about different types, contexts, or content of received messages. Additionally, multiple motion induction devices may be included in a device to produce dynamic force feedback along multiple dimensions. Multiple dimension dynamic force feedback may be used in providing geographical directions to a user.

Various arrangements for selecting a function to be executed on a mobile device are presented. A processor may receive proximity data that indicates the mobile device is proximate to a user. The processor may receive acceleration data that indicates a direction of acceleration. In response to receiving the proximity data indicating that the mobile device is proximate to the user, the processor may identify a position of the mobile device in relation to the user using the acceleration data. In response to identifying the position of the mobile device in relation to the user using the acceleration data, the processor may select a function to be executed.

A method of determining a communications contact relevance for a user includes: analyzing stored contact information of a plurality of contacts with which the user can at least one of receive information from or transmit information to; analyzing context information relevant to likelihoods of imminent communication by the user with the contacts, the context information including information different from ones of the contacts with which the user most recently communicated, the context information further including present user context information and at least one of present context or historical context associated with each of the contacts, respectively; and determining the likelihoods of imminent communication between the user and the contacts based on the context information.

A consumption metric for the consumable items is determined based on the identification and quantity data. Consumption-related information is provided based on the consumption metric. Consumption-related information may be used for a number of purposes, including for providing aggregate consumption information to suppliers, and health advice and recipes to users, for example.

Weight-sensing surfaces with wireless communication for inventory tracking

An apparatus, a method, and a computer program product for detecting a gesture of a body part relative to a surface are provided. The apparatus determines if the body part is in proximity of the surface. If the body part is in proximity of the surface, the apparatus determines if electrical activity sensed from the body part is indicative of contact between the body part and the surface. If the body part is in contact with the surface, the apparatus determines if motion activity sensed from the body part is indicative of the gesture.

In a particular embodiment, a method includes receiving a user input at a first display surface of an electronic device to move a graphical user interface element displayed at the first display surface. The electronic device includes a second display surface separated from the first display surface by a gap. The method also includes determining that at least a portion of the graphical user interface element is to be moved beyond an edge of the first display surface into the gap such that the at least a portion of the graphical user element will not be displayed at the first display surface. The method also includes sending at least one parameter associated with or based on the modified effective screen size or the modified screen resolution to a server.

Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable storage media for displaying an image at an electronic device are disclosed. In a particular embodiment, an electronic device is disclosed that includes a first panel having a first display surface to display a graphical user interface element associated with an application. The electronic device also includes a second panel having a second display surface. The first display surface is separated from the second display surface by a gap. A processor is configured to execute program code including a graphical user interface. The processor is configured to launch or close the application in response to user input causing a movement of the graphical user interface element in relation to the gap.

Multi-panel electronic device

A multi-fold mobile device with a configurable interface is disclosed. In a particular embodiment, a method includes detecting a hardware configuration change from a first configuration to a second configuration at an electronic device that includes at least a first panel having a first display surface and a second panel having a second display surface. The hardware configuration change includes a change in a relative orientation of the first display panel to the second display panel. The method also includes automatically modifying a graphical user interface displayed at the first display surface and the second display surface at least partially based on the second configuration.
