A method and apparatus for producing an effect of a chemical or biochemical agent on a system responsive to such agent, are disclosed. In practicing the method, a plurality of low-frequency time-domain signals of the agent are generated, each at a different at a different noise level within a selected noise level range. The signals are analyzed by producing spectral plots of the time-domain signals, and identifying an optimized agent-specific time-domain signal based on information in the spectral plots. A chemical or biological system responsive to the agent is exposed to the optimized time-domain signal by placing the system within the magnetic field of an electromagnetic transducer, and applying the signal to the transducer at a signal amplitude and for a period sufficient to produce in the system an agent-specific effect on the system.

System and method for collecting, storing, processing, transmitting and presenting very low amplitude signals

Method and apparatus for detecting a selected material in a sample are disclosed. In the method, the sample is placed adjacent a detector coil, for generating an electromagnetic time-domain signal composed of sample source radiation. The signal is first conditioned to convert the signal to an amplified conditioned signal from which frequency components above a selected frequency have been removed, then filtered to selectively pass low-frequency spectral components that are (i) in a frequency range between dc and 50 khz, and (ii) characteristic of the selected material. The filtered signal is cross-correlated with a data set of low-frequency spectral components that are (i) in a frequency range between dc and 50 khz, and (ii) characteristic of a selected material, to produce a frequency-domain spectrum in the frequency range within DC to 50 khz. This spectrum is then used to determine whether the frequency-domain spectrum contains one or more low-frequency signal components that are characteristic of the selected material, and diagnostic of the presence or absence of such material in the sample.

System and method for sample detection based on low-frequency spectral components

A method and apparatus for interrogating a sample that exhibits molecular rotation are disclosed. In practicing the method, the sample is placed in a container having both magnetic and electromagnetic shielding, and Gaussian noise is injected into the sample. An electromagnetic time-domain signal composed of sample source radiation superimposed on the injected Guassian noise is detected, and this signal is cross-correlated with a second time-domain signal produced by the same or similar sample, to produce a cross-correlated signal with frequency domain components. The latter is plotted in the frequency domain by a fast Fourier transform to produce a frequency domain spectrum in a frequency range within DC to 50 KHz. From this spectrum, one or more low-frequency signal components that are characteristic of the sample being interrogated are identified.

System and method for characterizing a sample by low-frequency spectra

A method and apparatus for interrogating a sample that exhibits molecular rotation includes placing the sample in a container having both magnetic and electromagnetic shielding, where Gaussian noise is injected into the sample. An electromagnetic time-domain signal composed of sample source radiation superimposed on the injected Guassian noise is detected, and this signal is used to generate a spectral plot that displays, at a selected power setting of the Gaussian noise source, low-frequency spectral components characteristic of the sample in a selected frequency range between DC and 50 kHz. In one embodiment, the spectral plot that is generated is a histogram of stochastic resonance events over the selected frequency range. From this spectrum, one or more low-frequency signal components that are characteristic of the sample being interrogated are identified.

An apparatus and method for the repeatable detection and recording of low-threshold molecular electromagnetic signals. The sample material and detection apparatus are contained with a magnetically shielded faraday cage to shield them from extraneous electromagnetic signals. The detection apparatus includes a detection coil and Super Conducting Quantum Interference Device (&ldquo;SQUID&rdquo;). White noise is injected external to the SQUID and the signals emitted by the sample material enhanced by stochastic resonance.
