A plasticizer composition contains a compound according to the following formula (I) wherein the radicals R, Rand Rare each independently selected from n-pentyl, 2-methylbutyl and 3-methylbutyl. The plasticizer composition can be used as plasticizer for polymers and a corresponding plastic composition contains the plasticizer composition.

Plasticizer composition comprising tripentyl esters of 1,2,4-cyclohexanetricarboxylic acid

An ester mixture of trialkyl esters of cyclohexane-1,2,4-tricarboxylates having isomeric pentyl radicals in which more than 5 mol % of the isomeric pentyl radicals are branched.

Tripentyl esters of trimellitic acid

A mixture of isomeric dipentyl terephthalates, pentyl radicals of which are n-pentyl radicals to an extent of less than 60 mol %, characterized by a low viscosity which does not increase significantly even at temperatures below 40&#xb0; C. Plastisols comprising these mixtures have a low plastisol viscosity which moreover increases only to a minor degree with time.

Diisopentyl terephthalate

Tripentyl esters of trimellitic acid, especially mixtures of triisopentyl esters of trimellitic acid comprising isomeric pentyl radicals in which more than 5 mol % of the isomeric pentyl radicals incorporated in the ester mixture are branched, have good compatibility with PVC and PVC-containing polymers and simultaneously exhibit a lesser tendency to migrate.

Ester mixtures comprising the esters A(COOR)(COOR), A(COOR)(COOR), A(COOR)(COOR)and A(COOR)(COOR), can be produced in a targeted way by processes in which acids A(COOH)or derivatives thereof are reacted with an amount (m+s) of ROH and an amount mof ROH, the reaction mixture being heated at boiling, the alcohol ROH having a lower boiling point than the alcohol ROH, A being an aromatic, alicyclic or aliphatic radical, x being 1 or 2, and Rand Rindependently of one another being substituted or unsubstituted aryl radicals or linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl radicals having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, mand mcorresponding to the mole equivalents of the alcohol radicals ORand ORto be introduced into A(COOH)or derivatives thereof, and sbeing greater than 0.

Production of ester mixtures

Mixtures containing dipentyl terephthalate, dinonyl terephthalate and pentyl nonyl terephthalate can be prepared with a predetermined distribution of the individual esters in the mixture, and used as plasticizers.

Pentyl nonyl terephthalates

An ester mixture of dianhydrohexitol, a composition comprising the ester mixture and a polymer composition comprising the ester mixture or the composition, the use thereof, and a process by which the ester mixture can be prepared, where the ester mixture has a mean chain length of (8.3) to (9.2).
