Applying a coating medium may include: emission of a coating medium jet from an application device and positioning the application device relative to the component with a particular application distance between the application device and the component, so that the coating medium jet impacts on the component and coats the component. The application distance (d) can be smaller than the disintegration distance of the coating medium jet, so that the coating medium jet impacts with its continuous region on the component.

Application method and application system

A perforated plate is provided for an application device for the application of a coating agent, in particular a paint, a sealant, a glue or a separating agent, to a component, in particular to a motor vehicle body component. The perforated plate contains at least one through-hole for passing the coating agent through and a hole exit opening on the side of the perforated plate that is located downstream with a wetting surface that can be wetted during operation by the coating agent. The through-hole, to reduce the wetting tendency, transitions into a protruding pipe stub or has a structure that reduces the wetting tendency and/or improves the flushability, e.g., a microstructuring or a nanostructuring.

Perforated plate for an application device and corresponding method

A coating device is provided for application of a coating agent, in particular a paint, sealant, separating agent, function layer or adhesive, to a component such as a motor vehicle body and/or attachment therefor. The coating device comprises an applicator that has at least one outlet opening and is configured to emit at least one coating agent jet. The coating device includes a deflector that is configured for deflecting the coating agent jet.

Coating agent deflection by a coating device

A method for painting a component such as a motor vehicle body component includes applying to the component a base coat layer, a pattern such as a decorative strip or a graphic element, and applying a clear lacquer coat. The pattern () is applied to the base coat layer without interposing a clear lacquer coat. A corresponding painting facility is provided.
