A friction element capturing and positioning assembly that includes a positioning frame with a base portion having a periphery and defining a plurality of frame friction surfaces defining at least one capturing slot. At least one friction puck is received by the at least one capturing slot and fixed to the positioning frame at the frame friction surfaces.

Friction element capturing and positioning assembly and methods of manufacturing thereof

A system and method for stabilizing an incontinent cervix during pregnancy are described. A system may include a nesting portion designed to surround the cervix without applying pressure to the cervix, while supporting the uterus in opposition to the weight of the developing fetus to prevent untimely effacement and dilatation of the cervix; thereby reducing the risk of premature birth and its consequence.

Cervical stabilization device

A composite friction unit of a three dimensional composite body is formed in a system for continuous process manufacturing of composite friction units. The system uses a plurality of rolls of reinforcing fiber fabrics, a resin dispensing system that receives a panel of reinforcing fiber fabric from each one of the rolls and separately dispenses resin through a plurality of dispensing tubes, each associated with a different panel, onto a surface of each panel. A forming die is positioned to receive the plurality of panels of reinforcing fiber fabric after resin is dispensed onto the panels and is configured to form a composite panel from the plurality of panels of reinforcing fiber fabrics. A cutting mechanism cuts a desired shape part from the composite panel.

Composite friction elements and pultrusion method of making same

A football helmet including a one-piece outer shell defining an exterior and an interior. The shell includes a plurality of slots penetrating at least partially through the shell from the exterior to the interior of the shell. Each slot may be disposed adjacent to at least one other slot and each pair of adjacent slots defines an energy absorbing beam portion between the adjacent slots. Each beam portion is configured to deform and absorb energy when the exterior of the shell is impacted from a normal direction.

An anti-tangling coupling device has an inner portion which is rotatably engaged with an outer portion. Fluid containment devices such as hoses can be coupled at either end of the device. One hose is secured to the inner portion while a second hose is secured to the outer portion, with the hoses being positioned at opposite ends of each other. Fluid communication is maintained throughout the inner portion and the outer portion, allowing water to flow between hoses coupled with the device. The rotational engagement is achieved by a bearing assembly, the bearing assembly including an inner race, and outer race, and ball bearings secured in cages. The ball bearings are capable of rotational movement (imparted from contact with the first race and second race), but are prevented from translational movement by a cage. As a result the likelihood of tangling between coupled hoses is greatly reduced.

Anti-tangling coupling device

A system for continuous process manufacturing of composite friction units uses one or more array gates with a plurality of cutouts each sized to receive one of a plurality of reinforcing fiber fabric therethrough. The system also uses a resin plenum with plenum chamber and a plurality of dispensing tube assemblies. Each of the plurality of dispensing tube assemblies corresponds to a different cutout and includes dispensing bores positioned to dispense resin onto one of the reinforcing fiber fabrics. The system also uses a forming die that receives the reinforcing fiber fabrics with the resin to form a composite panel as they pass through the forming die.

A parasitic drag induced boundary layer reduction system and methods for reducing the boundary layer on aircraft, vehicles, and structure. The system may include a suction generator configured to utilize parasitic drag in reducing boundary layer effect and enhancing laminate flow. The suction generator may include at least one of a suction port on a rearward facing surface of an aircraft, a suction vane on each wing of the aircraft, a wingtip vane on each wing of the aircraft, and a slotted tail section on a tail of the aircraft. The system may also include an induction structure configured to introduce airflow to suction created by the suction generator as the aircraft is in flight.

Parasitic drag induced boundary layer reduction system and method

A non-metallic armor article comprises a pultruded housing defining at least one cavity. A plurality of substantially dry ballistic impact resistant broad goods sheets are at least partially enclosed in the cavity and held in suspension independently within the cavity. The pultruded housing is engaged with the plurality of substantially dry ballistic impact resistant broad goods sheets by being secured to one or more of the plurality of substantially dry ballistic impact resistant broad goods sheets.

Non-metallic armor article and method of manufacture

A composite friction unit of a three dimensional composite body is formed of a substantially uniform array of predominately glass strands of primary reinforcing fibers in matrix of phenolic resin material, the reinforcing fibers in the form of fabric distributed throughout the body forming a friction unit having a predetermined size and configuration and uniform distribution and alignment of fibers throughout. An alternate friction unit includes a substantially rigid or rigid backing co-pultruded in forming the unit. The units are produced in a pultrusion process wherein the reinforcing fibers and matrix are pulled through a forming die.
