Described are implementations of systems and methods for an improved machine learning-based system that incorporates pre-operative and intraoperative measurements captured during surgery, as well as additional patient-specific data, to provide an individualized, highly accurate post-operative manifest refraction prediction. According to some embodiments, a determination engine generates a predictive feature set of one or more predictors associated with diagnostic measurements of one or more eyes and performs a recursive selection operation using one or more combinations within the predictive feature set and one or more models to produce a most predictive subset, the most predictive subset having a highest prediction accuracy among other predictive subsets for post-operative manifest refraction. The determination engine generates a determination model by refining and retraining the one or more models of the recursive selection operation utilizing the most predictive subset.

Ophthalmic lenses are described herein. An example ophthalmic lens may comprise a first surface. The example ophthalmic lens may comprise a second surface disposed opposite the first surface and defining a volume of lens material therebetween. A thickness profile of the volume of lens material may be derived from one or more eyelid profiles such that a thickness gradient of the volume of lens material is oriented to be substantially orthogonal to a target eyelid margin shape.

The present invention is directed to a method and means for enabling contact lens wearers to photograph their own eyes using an electronic device with a camera such as an iPhone with a macro lens, for example, Olloclip&#xae; Macro Pro Lens Set 7&#xd7; lens, and a custom three-dimensional printed eyecup attachment. The eyecup attachment is designed to position the camera at a suitable and reproducible distance from the eye to ensure that the system can focus appropriately on the lens details. The eyecup attachment also serves to block stray light and diffuse the ambient lighting. In addition, the eyecup attachment ensures that the camera is held in the correct orientation while photos are being captured. The capture images are analyzed using image processing software to determine the angel of rotation of the contact lens.
