Monitored types of user activity include registering as a user, establishing a relationship with another user, and customizing a user character. Responsive to such activity, information is obtained regarding an amount of real-world money the user has spent and the total time spent by the user during gameplay. This information is used to select system communications. System communications may be provided for presentation to users via one or more communication channels.

Dynamically providing system communications tailored to individual users responsive to trigger events in virtual spaces

A method and system for fulfilling in-application product redemption requests is described. A fulfillment system receives a product search application programming interface (API) call from an application. The product search API includes a set of at least one product criterion received from an application. An aggregated catalog is searched based on the set of at least one product criterion. A set of product metadata is returned. The set of product metadata corresponds to at least one product that matches the set of at least one product criterion. A redemption API call that includes product information and a physical address is also received from the application. A fulfillment request is sent to an online retail platform separate from the fulfillment system via a fulfillment API call that includes the product information and the physical address for the online retail platform to deliver a corresponding product to the physical address.

System communications may be sent if (1) triggered by trigger events in the virtual space, and (2) selected based on user state that is separate and discrete from the trigger events. Trigger events may include specific user actions, such as registering as a user in the virtual space. Current states may be obtained responsive to trigger events occurring. A given current state may include (1) a frequency of engagement by the first user in the virtual space, (2) an amount of real-world money spent toward the virtual space, and/or (3) total time spent by a user while engaged in gameplay in the virtual space. An individual system communication is selected and provided for presentation to a user responsive to an individual current state corresponding to the individual system communication.

The disclosure relates to systems and methods for facilitating data model substitution related to one or more pre-existing data objects in an expression of a game environment. A system may facilitate scalable addition of new game content by leveraging pre-existing data objects at a client computing platform. The system may include a game server that provides to the client computing platform data model substitutions for the existing data objects. The data model substitutions may be used to alter the behavior or function, look (e.g., visual appearance), description, and/or other characteristic of an expression of a pre-existing data object. Thus, by leveraging pre-existing data objects and providing such data model substitutions, new content or at least the appearance of new content from the user's perspective, may be provided without revising client code or requiring downloading new instructions that encode new data objects.
