An insertion guide for guiding a fastener having a head and a shaft. The insertion guide includes a sidewall constructed of a biocompatible material having an entrance end, an exit end, and a cavity extending from the entrance end to the exit end. The sidewall has a guide portion and a fastener connector portion. The guide portion of the sidewall extends from the entrance end toward the exit end, and the fastener connector portion of the sidewall extends from the exit end toward the guide portion. The sidewall in the guide portion is configured such that the cavity has a first cross-sectional distance greater than the head of the fastener. The sidewall in the fastener connector portion has a second cross-sectional distance greater than the shaft, and less than the head.

Disclosed is an axial and rotational stopping device for use when creating threads in a predrilled pilot hole or inserting an allograft bony void filler or synthetic implant into a threaded hole. The device can also provide consistent depth control for drilling a pilot hole, tapping the hole to create threads, and implanting an allograft bony void filler or synthetic implant while preventing damage to the threads in the tapped hole that would be caused by continuing to rotate a tap once the depth stop has been reached and the tap can no longer advance in the axial direction, as well as preventing damage to the threads in the tapped hole, the threads on the mating allograft bony void filler or synthetic implant, and the drive features on either the driver instrument or the allograft bony void filler or synthetic implant.

A screw guide includes a first end, a second end spaced from the first end, a guide body that extends from the first end to the second end, and a guide hole that extends through the guide body. The guide body includes a first guide surface and a second guide surface, the first guide surface defines a first opening of the guide hole, and the second guide surface is spaced from the first guide surface in a first guide direction. The present invention is directed to an interspinous spacer assembly for implantation and/or affixation between spinous processes of adjacent superior and inferior vertebrae and associated tools and methods for stabilizing the human spine. Spinous process fixator

An allograft interspinous spacer for implantation into an interspinous space located between spinous process of adjacent vertebrae. The spacer preferably includes a body, a core and a plurality of deployable retainers. The body may be operatively associated with the plurality of deployable retainers. In use, after the body has been inserted into the interspinous space, the plurality of retainers is deployed so that they prevent migration of the spacer. The core is preferably sized and configured to be inserted and/or moved into operatively engagement with the body to deploy the plurality of retainers.
