A method for separating carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream is disclosed, in which the gas stream is reacted with a lean aminosilicone solvent in an absorber, resulting in a rich aminosilicone solvent that is then treated in a desorber to release the COand regenerate lean aminosilicone solvent in a desorption reaction. The regenerated solvent is directed into a steam-producing, indirect heat exchanger that is configured to supply steam to the desorber at a temperature high enough to augment the desorption reaction. Also, selected amounts of make-up water are added to the rich aminosilicone solvent at one or more process locations between the absorber and the desorber, to lower the viscosity of the solvent and to lower the temperature required for the desorption reaction.

Method and system for treatment of a gas stream that contains carbon dioxide

A power generation system includes a power generation plant portion including a feedwater heating system configured to channel a feedwater stream and a carbon dioxide capture portion coupled in flow communication with the power generation plant portion. The carbon dioxide capture portion includes a solvent circuit configured to channel a solvent stream through at least a portion of the carbon dioxide capture portion. The carbon dioxide capture portion also includes a heat recovery system coupled in flow communication with the solvent circuit and the feedwater heating system. The heat recovery system is configured to transfer heat energy from the solvent stream to the feedwater stream and to channel the heated feedwater from the heat recovery system to the feedwater heating system.

Method and apparatus to facilitate heating feedwater in a power generation system

A method for treatment of a flue gas involves feeding the flue gas and a lean solvent to an absorber. The method further involves reacting the flue gas with the lean solvent within the absorber to generate a clean flue gas and a rich solvent. The method also involves feeding the clean flue gas from the absorber and water from a source, to a wash tower to separate a stripped portion of the lean solvent from the clean flue gas to generate a washed clean flue gas and a mixture of the water and the stripped portion of the lean solvent. The method further involves treating at least a portion of the mixture of the water and the stripped portion of the lean solvent via a separation system to separate the water from the stripped portion of the lean solvent.

A method for separating carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream is provided. The method includes reacting at least a portion of COin the gas stream with a plurality of liquid sorbent particles to form a plurality of solid adduct particles and a first CO-lean gas stream; the solid adduct particles entrained in the first CO-lean gas stream to form an entrained gas stream. The present invention is directed to aminosilicone solvent recovery methods and systems. The methods and systems disclosed herein may be used to recover aminosilicone solvent from a carbon dioxide containing vapor stream, for example, a vapor stream that leaves an aminosilicone solvent desorber apparatus. The methods and systems of the invention utilize a first condensation process at a temperature from about 80&#xb0; C. to about 150&#xb0; C. and a second condensation process at a temperature from about 5&#xb0; C. to about 75&#xb0; C. The first condensation process yields recovered aminosilicone solvent. The second condensation process yields water.

Aminosilicone solvent recovery methods and systems

Systems and methods for separating carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream are provided. The system includes a reaction chamber, a pressurization unit, and a desorption unit. In one embodiment, a system for recovering carbon dioxide can comprises: a reaction chamber having a first pressure and comprising a gas stream inlet; a phase-changing liquid sorbent, wherein the liquid sorbent is chemical reactive with carbon dioxide to form a solid material; a regeneration unit to decompose the solid material to released carbon dioxide gas and regenerated liquid sorbent; and a dry transport mechanism configured to transport the solid material from the reaction chamber at the first pressure to the regeneration unit at a second higher pressure. In one embodiment, a method of recovering carbon dioxide from a gas stream, comprises: chemically reacting carbon dioxide with a pure amine compound liquid sorbent to form a solid material; without adding a carrier fluid, dry pressurizing and transporting the solid material, to a regeneration unit; and heating the solid material in the regeneration unit to provide a substantially thermal reaction to decompose the solid material to carbon dioxide gas and regenerated liquid sorbent.

Carbon dioxide capture system and methods of capturing carbon dioxide

A method for recovering carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream is disclosed. The method includes the step of reacting COin the gas stream with fine droplets of a liquid absorbent, so as to form a solid material in which the COis bound. The solid material is then transported to a desorption site, where it is heated, to release substantially pure COgas. The COgas can then be collected and used or transported in any desired way. A related apparatus for recovering carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream is also described herein.

The system comprises a catalyst in a first zone comprising a catalyst support, a catalytic metal comprising gallium, and at least one promoting metal selected from the group consisting of silver, gold, vanadium, zinc, tin, bismuth, cobalt, molybdenum, tungsten, indium and mixtures thereof; a catalyst in the second zone comprising a second catalyst support, a second catalytic metal selected from the group consisting of indium, copper, manganese, tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, vanadium, iron, cerium and mixtures thereof The catalyst system further comprises a gas stream comprising an organic reductant.
