A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening/reclose and tamper-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tear portion that is torn through upon initial opening, thus indicating the package has been at least partially opened.

Flexible packaging structure with built-in tamper-evidence features and method for making same

A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening/reclose and tam per-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tear portion that is torn through upon initial opening, thus indicating the package has been at least partially opened.

A resealable closure for a container in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which connects the closure to a remaining portion of the container which must be broken in order to gain access to the contents of the container for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form, includes a structure associated with the closure, wherein upon opening the closure for a first time, the structure stretches, increasing a length of the structure until the structure eventually breaks, leaving one or both residual ends of the broken structure rippled or curved upward from the remainder of the container. In one alternative form, the structure is associated with a pull tab of the sealing panel, which comprises the closure, whereby either the structure must be broken first, prior to pulling back the sealing panel, or while pulling back the sealing panel for a first time, the structure breaks, prior to gaining access to the contents therein. Advantageously, the package integrity feature is integrally formed with the closure and a remaining portion of the container. Integrity of the package is indicated by visually observing an intact breakable structure.

An impact detection methodology is disclosed. Systems and methods can be utilized to detect impacts of concern such as collisions, falls, or other incidents. Systems and methods can be utilized to monitor an area and detect falls or collisions of an individual, for instance, as may require intervention to aid the subject. A system can include two or more accelerometers and a controller. The accelerometers can be in communication with the structure (e.g., within or on the walls or floor of a structure) and can monitor the structure for vibrations. The accelerometers can be coupled to a controller that is configured to process data obtained from the accelerometers and provide output with regard to the force and/or location of an impact within the structure.

Impact force estimation and event localization

A blister package is formed for retaining individual products. The package includes a receptacle substrate having a sealing flange and at least one receiving cell formed to retain product therein. A polymer top layer covers the cell and a portion thereof is sealed to the sealing flange. A score pattern is formed in at least one surface of the top layer and overlapping the cell. The score pattern is defined by a first plurality of score lines formed in a repeating pattern and a second plurality of score lines formed in a repeating pattern. The first and second plurality of rows overlap one another to define a plurality of intersections, with the overall score line pattern having a total linear length of the score lines per cell of at least 5 inches and a total number of score line intersections per cell of at least 10.

The present disclosure is directed to a simulated roof vertical ventilation training apparatus configured to be pivotably attached to a simulated roof. In some examples, the vertical ventilation training apparatus includes a frame pivotably mounted to an exposed rafter of the simulated roof. The frame is moveable between an open position and a closed position. The edges of the frame are configured to engage with at least one disposable support member to maintain the frame in a closed position. The disposable support member is configured to be cut by a user with a hand tool to allow pivot of the frame into the open position.

The sheet includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced weakened locations () extending transversely thereabout. A blister package is defined for retaining product. The package is formed from a receptacle substrate having a planer sealing flange and at least one receptacle hollow for retaining product therein. A top layer is provided, covering the receptacle hollow with a portion overlapping and sealed to the sealing flange. A score pattern is formed in the top layer for promoting propagation of a tear upon forcing product from receptacle hollow against the top layer. The score pattern is defined by a plurality of rows of parallel straight lines aligned with the receptacle hollow. In addition, a plurality of spaced curved or bowed score lines are provided. The curved or bowed score lines transversely intersect the rows of straight lines above the receptacle hollow.

A blister package is provided for retaining individual product units. The blister package is formed by a receptacle substrate and an outer laminate. The receptacle substrate includes a sealing flange and one or more receptacle hollows for retaining product therein. The outer laminate includes a first layer covering a sealing layer, with the sealing layer bonded to the receptacle flange and covering the product within the hollows. A repeating score line pattern is formed in the outer laminate for promoting a tear in the laminate upon forcing the product from the receptacle hollow against the outer laminate. The score pattern extends substantially across the area of the outer laminate covering the receptacle hollow and includes a plurality of spaced score lines formed in a crosswise relationship.
