The managed Pressure Drilling manifold provides accurate back pressure control of a well head when drilling. The MPD system provides two paths for the drilling fluid to flow from the RCD to the flowline. The drilling fluid flows along an MPD path sending the drilling fluids through at least one sensor, preferably three sensors, a flow control device, and a flowmeter. The MPD system also provides a bypass path that isolates the flow control device and flowmeter while direct the drilling fluid from the RCD to the bypass to avoid the flow control device and flowmeter. The MPD system provides three valves that direct the drilling fluid in the bypass path or the MPD path.

Compact managed pressure drilling system attached to rotating control device and method of maintaining pressure control

The trip system closely monitors and ensures that the hydrostatic pressure of the wellbore stays consistent throughout the tripping process, stripping process, and axial pipe operations. The core components of the system include, but are not limited to, an advanced automation system that controls a back-pressure device, including but not limited to a choke, a rotary ball valve, or other flow control devices. The automation system also monitors upstream and downstream flow measurement components. The trip system also provides a pump system to circulate drilling fluid from the trip tank across the top of the wellhead and/or at a lower portion below the RCD.

System and method for monitoring and maintaining hydrostatic pressure during tripping operations, stripping operations, and axial pipe operations

The fluid containment system attaches to the wellhead below the rotating control device to catch fluids. The fluid containment system provides a pan below the outlet of the body in which the rotating head assembly is secured. A curtain attaches to the fluid containment system to at least partially enclose the wellhead. The curtain directs the escaped fluids to the pan. An opening in the curtain provides an outlet for the body allowing fluids within the pipe to flow from the body. Conduits attach to outlets of the pan to transfer the fluids from the pan to a tank.

Fluid containment system and method

The modular managed pressured drilling system provides multiple skids with individual chokes and PRVs on the skids. These skids secure to one another to construct a modular MPD system that provides the proper equipment for the drilling operation. An inlet flow junction and an outlet flow junction are secured to each skid. The flow junctions provide multiple ports to provide different pathways for the drilling fluid through the flow junctions. The flow junctions may direct the fluid through a first choke, a second choke, a pressure relief valve, or a bypass.

Modular managed pressure drilling choke system

The debris catch provides a strainer located downstream of a rotating control device (RCD) within a flow line. The strainer is located between the RCD and at least one protected component. The strainer limits the debris and other junk that flows to protected components located downstream of the strainer. A first sensor and a second sensor detect the pressure differential between a location before the strainer and at the strainer. The two sensors detect a clog in the strainer. The strainer is removable through an access outlet for clearing the clog and reinstalling a strainer for continued drilling operation. A purge valve located in the system also allows clearing of the strainer by releasing the debris through a purge outlet located on a pathway separate from the pathway to the protected component.

A pressure relieve valve (PRV) secures to the rotating control device (RCD) in a drilling operation. The PRV located at rig flowline secures to a PRV line, such as PRV piping that bypasses the MPD choke, MPD system, UBD systems, and other flow control device(s). The outlet of the RCD is routed via the pressure relief valve to discharge to a safe contained area. Such discharge relieves overpressure of the wellbore to a contained environment via the rig flowline.

Resettable pressure relief valve system and method for use when drilling with a rotating control device

A system and method of maintaining back pressure located downstream of the flow meter maintains the pressure downstream of the flow meter in relation to the surface back pressure (SBP). At least one flow control device is located downstream of the flow meter. The flow control device (the BPV) automatically maintains the downstream pressure to less than or equal to fifty percent (50%) of the surface back pressure. A pressure regulator sets the back pressure to allow for a standalone device. Additional valves allow adjustment of the back pressure and allow for pressure relief and full flow bypass.

System and method for reducing gas break out in MPD metering with back pressure

The sealed lubricating head provides a lubricating compartment with no oiler or oil lines. The lubricating compartment is sealed by a top seal and a bottom seal that seals between the inner barrel and the outer barrel. The sealed lubricating head provides a bottom seal that seals the lubricating compartment. A rubber adapter secures the seal while also securing the rubber to the inner barrel.

A system and method of maintaining back pressure located downstream of the Coriolis meter maintains the pressure downstream of the Coriolis meter in relation to the surface back pressure (SBP). At least one flow control device is located downstream of the Coriolis meter. The flow control device of the present invention (the BPV) automatically maintains the downstream pressure to less than or equal to fifty percent (50%) of the surface back pressure. A pressure regulator sets the back pressure to allow for a standalone device. Additional valves allow adjustment of the back pressure and allow for pressure relief and full flow bypass.
