A system for identifying specific instances of objects in a three-dimensional (3D) scene, comprising: a camera for capturing an image of multiple objects at a site; at least one processor executable to: use a location and orientation of the camera to create a 3D model of the site including multiple instances of objects expected to be in proximity to the camera, and generate multiple candidate clusters each representing a different projection of the 3D model, detect at least two objects in the image, and determine a spatial configuration for each detected object; and match the detected image objects to one of the multiple candidate cluster using the spatial configurations, associate the detected objects with the expected object instances of the matched cluster, and retrieve information of one of the detected objects that is stored with the associated expected object instance; and a head-wearable display configured to display the information.

In order to support connectivity requirements for today's pervasive devices, the present invention provides an asymmetric two-way request-response communication protocol in which the end user or application is an active participant in the power management scheme. No power is consumed until a user-initiated client request is made. At that time, the client activates its transceiver and attempts to connect to the server; if it succeeds, it requests information, receives its response, and disconnects again, totally shutting down the transceiver. The server's transceiver always stays in a listening mode and waits for a client request. The protocol does not provide a direct method for the server to send unsolicited messages to the client.

A method for telephone communications includes providing a protocol that defines a relation between predetermined graphic elements and respective sequences of dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signals. A screen to be displayed is designed, including one or more of the graphic elements. An encoded representation of the screen is then generated using DTMF signals in accordance with the protocol. The encoded representation is transmitted over a telephone line to a telephone subscriber unit, whereby the one or more graphic elements are displayed by the subscriber unit responsive to the encoded representation of the screen.

In a method and system for downloading graphic images on the Network, at least one high-resolution graphic image file of a reference image is stored at a network server. At least part of the reference image is compressed and downloaded at reduced resolution from the network server to a client connected to the network server. Upon suitable decompression, a corresponding low-resolution image is displayed and size data uniquely specifying a portion of the displayed image is uploaded from the client to the network server. The specified portion of the high-resolution graphic image file is extracted from the network server and downloaded to the client where it is displayed. Such an approach obviates the need to transfer high-resolution data intensive graphic files to the client and further allows the heavy image processing to be performed on the server much faster than is achieved in prior approaches where processing is performed locally at the client.
