According to some aspects, a wearable device for estimating a location of the device within a space is provided, the device comprising a plurality of cameras mounted to a structure, at least a portion of the structure being adapted to facilitate a user wearing the device, the plurality of cameras having substantially fixed positions and orientations on the structure relative to each other, and at least one processor configured to receive image data from the plurality of cameras, perform feature detection on the image data to obtain a first plurality of features from the image data, and determine an estimate of the location of the device in the space based, at least in part, on a location associated with a second plurality of features obtained from image data previously captured of the space that matches the first plurality of features.

Navigation methods and apparatus for the visually impaired

In one aspect, a method and apparatus for detecting subject matter of interest in view data obtained by scanning an object including generating a filter adapted to respond to the subject matter of interest, splatting the filter onto a portion of the view data to provide a filter splat, and performing at least one operation on the portion of the view data using the filter splat to facilitate determining whether the subject matter of interest is present in the portion of the view data.

Methods and apparatus for identifying subject matter in view data

In one aspect, a method of obtaining micro-vessel density (MVD) measurements from an image of biological vasculature containing a plurality of vessels is provided. The method comprises acts of analyzing a region of interest of the image for each of a plurality of bins, each of the plurality of bins associated with a predetermined range of vessel sizes, the act of analyzing the region of interest including determining which of the plurality of bins that portions of any vessel subject matter identified in the region of interest belong based on a size associated with the respective portions of the vessel subject matter, and associating each portion of the vessel subject matter with the corresponding one of the plurality of bins to which the portion belongs, and computing at least one measurement for each of the plurality of bins, the at least one measurement related to the MVD of the portions of vessel subject matter associated with the respective bin.

In one aspect, a method and apparatus for determining a value for at least one parameter of a configuration of a model associated with structure of which view data has been obtained including detecting at least one feature in the view data, and determining the value for the at least one parameter of the configuration of the model based at least in part on the at least one feature. In another aspect, a method and apparatus for detecting at least one blood vessel from object view data obtained from a scan of the at least one blood vessel including generating a model of the at least one blood vessel, the model having a plurality of parameters describing a model configuration, determining a hypothesis for the model configuration based, at least in part, on at least one feature detected in the object view data, and updating the model configuration according to a comparison with the object view data to arrive at a final model configuration, so that the final model configuration represents the at least one blood vessel.

Methods and apparatus for model-based detection of structure in view data

Improved color management techniques use sample identifiers that define sample color areas having core areas and buffer areas adjacent the core areas. The core area defined by each sample identifier includes a unique set of colors. However, the buffer area defined by each sample identifier is a same common color (e.g., white). Sample color areas can be displayed or outputted (e.g., printed) adjacent to each other to form a region of sample color areas (e.g., a color image, a uniform region of color, etc.). Within such an arrangement, the buffer areas limit any ink bleed between the core areas of the sample color areas thus minimizing, or altogether avoiding, spectral interaction between inks of different core areas. This enables greater color control and consistency, as well as providing a large color gamut
