Electronic system including an inhaler device for dispensing a medicament formulation in aerosol or dry powder form and an external device which is configured to receive data communicated from the inhaler device. The inhaler device includes a mouthpiece and a flow rate sensor for sensing a flow rate of an inhalation flow which is caused by a patient upon inhalation through the mouthpiece and in which the medicament formulation is entrained or dispensed. The inhaler device further comprises an actuation sensing device having at least one actuation sensor which is configured to sense preparatory steps of the inhaler device in order to prepare a use of the inhaler device and/or to sense the actuation of the inhaler device in order to dispense the medicament formulation. The actuation sensor and the flow rate sensor are configured to generate sensor signals.

Electronic system

An inhalation system including a metered dose inhaler and a separate computing device. The inhaler includes a flow rate sensor for detecting an inhalation flow through the actuator housing upon patient inhalation and a transmitting unit for transmitting a signal of the at least first switch as well as of the flow rate sensor to the computing device. The computing device generates visual and/or acoustic messages independently of the signals of the at least one switch and the flow rate sensor in order to guide the patient through multiple steps. The computing device further evaluates the use of the inhaler by comparing the transmitted signals of the at least first switch and of the flow rate sensor with the visual and/or acoustic messages. The transmitting unit transmits the signals of the at least first switch and the flow rate sensor to the computing device after the use of the inhaler.

Inhalation system with computing device for transmitting signals

The invention relates to a metered dose inhaler () for dispensing aerosol doses with an actuation housing () and a canister () with an aerosol. A triggering unit () comprises one single trigger member () on a flexible member () for activating a switch () of a circuit assembly. The flexible member () is configured to interact with the canister () in such a way that the trigger member () is moved in a lateral direction by the canister () so that the trigger member () engages the switch ().

Metered dose inhaler

A metered dose inhaler () for dispensing aerosol doses comprises an actuation housing () adapted to receive a canister (). The canister () is configured to move from a rest position to an activation position in which a valve () of the canister (), positioned at a valve end () of the canister (), is depressed against a bottom portion of the actuation housing such that an aerosol dose is released. The inhaler () further comprises a mechanical dose () counter comprising an indicator member which is constructed and arrangement to undergo a predetermined count-indicating motion when an aerosol dose is released. Moreover, the inhaler () comprises a triggering unit () for triggering at least one electrical switch () when the canister () is moved from the rest position to the activation position whereby an electrical signal is generated. Also part of the inhaler () is a processing unit for processing the signal generated by the switch () upon being triggered.
