A superconducting quantum interference apparatus comprising a planar array of loops where each loop constitutes a superconducting quantum interference device, and a magnetic shield disposed over part of one of the loops so to protect the covered part of the loop from exposure to a magnetic field.

High temperature superconductor bi-superconducting quantum interference device

A superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) array (SQA) includes at least one row each including SQUIDs. The SQUIDs in each row are connected in parallel and include junctions, such as Josephson junctions, shared among the SQUIDs. The SQUIDs have respective inductance parameters and the junctions have respective critical currents. The respective inductance parameters of the SQUIDs and respective critical currents of the junctions both vary in a predetermined pattern across the row. This improves performance including improved linearity and improved sensitivity.

An electronic package includes a mounting platform for mounting an electrically small device, at least one coil, and an insulator. The coil regulates a magnetic field through the electrically small device at the mounting platform. The coil is adapted to conduct a current for nullifying the magnetic field through the electrically small device at the mounting platform. The insulator is between the mounting platform and the coil for isolating the electrically small device from the coil. An electronic circuit includes this electronic package and the electrically small device mounted at the mounting platform of the electronic package. The electrically small device can be a quantum device and/or a topological device when cooled to a cryogenic temperature. The magnetic field is nullified to prevent the magnetic field from adversely affecting the electrically small device.

A magnetic field detector for detecting magnetic fields over a broad operational temperature range comprising: a plurality of Josephson junctions connected to each other by superconducting interconnecting paths, wherein the plurality of Josephson junctions are arranged in an array; and wherein the superconducting interconnecting paths connecting the plurality of Josephson junctions in the array are designed to not all have a uniform cross-sectional geometry with respect to each other.

An antenna comprising; a substrate; a continuous film of yttrium barium copper oxide (YBCO) disposed on the substrate having first and second regions, wherein the first region has a first oxygen doping level and wherein the second region has a second oxygen doping level that is different from the first oxygen doping level; a nano-scale conductive structure, shaped to resonate at a terahertz (THz) frequency, disposed on a boundary between the first and second regions; and a conductive path electrically connected to the first and second regions and to the conductive structure such that induced current in the structure due to incoming THz radiation heats the boundary thereby creating a thermal gradient, which results in the generation of Seebeck effect voltage.

A superconducting electronic circuit includes at least two SQUID elements, an array of at least three Josephson Junctions, and a magnetic source element. Each SQUID element has no shared Josephson Junctions or at least one shared Josephson Junction with another SQUID element and at least one exclusive Josephson Junction. The array of at least three Josephson Junctions are connected in one, two, or three-dimensions. The magnetic source element has an electrically-tunable spatially non-uniform magnetic field.

Superconducting electronic circuit

A method includes providing a film of a high-temperature superconductor compound on a flexible substrate, where a portion of the film has a first oxygen state, and exposing a portion of the film to a focused ion beam to create a structure within the film. The structure may result from the portion of the film being partially or completely removed. The structure may be a trench along the length or width of the film. The method may include annealing the exposed portion of the film to a second oxygen state. The oxygen content of the second oxygen state may be greater or less than the oxygen content of the first oxygen state.

Method for creating high-resolution micro- to nano-scale structures on flexible substrates

A system is provided for detecting a radio frequency signal. The system includes a dielectric platform, a first SQUID array, a second array of SQUIDs and a processing component. The dielectric platform has a first planar surface and a second planar surface that is disposed at an angle relative to the first planar surface. The first array of SQUIDs is disposed on the first planar surface and can output a first detection signal based on the radio frequency signal. The second array of SQUIDs is disposed on the second planar surface and can output a second detection signal based on the radio frequency signal. The processing component can determine a first plane from which the radio frequency signal is transmitting based on the first detection signal and the second detection signal.

A customizable glass wall system is disclosed. The system comprises at least two glazed, transparent panes mounted to a frame, creating an internal space less than approximately five inches thick. At least one upper roller is mounted to an upper portion of the frame, preferably on a removable headboard, and at least one lower roller is mounted to a lower portion of the frame, preferably to a removable tailboard. At least one partitioned film is attached to the upper and lower rollers. The partitioned film has partitions with varied properties and functions, ranging from thermal insulation to decoration, which can be selectively positioned behind the transparent panes by rotating the partitioned film by means of the rollers until a selected partition of film is displayed. The system can be automated based on time, weather, amount of sunlight, or user preference, and it may include window coverings or solar cells.

A vehicle winch mechanism includes a drum, a motor and transmission, at least one drum and motor side support, at least one battery, and a motive trickle charge mechanism. The drum pays out and takes in a line. The motor and transmission drive the drum. The side supports couple the drum, the motor, or both to the vehicle. The battery provides power to the motor. The motive trickle charge mechanism charges the battery. In one embodiment, the motive trickle charge mechanism includes a permanent magnet, an enclosure housing the magnet, and two or more sets of conductive coils wrapped around the enclosure and electrically coupled to the battery. The enclosure houses the magnet such that the magnet freely moves and changes orientation within the enclosure. The coils of an individual set of coils are aligned along parallel planes, and the coils of separate sets are aligned along intersecting planes.

Method for producing SQUID arrays composed of SQUID elements having large spread in magnetic inductance values and comparable internal dimensions

A superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) for mobile magnetic sensing applications comprising: at least two Josephson junction electrically connected to a superconducting loop; and a resistive element connected in series with one of the Josephson junctions in the superconducting loop. The resistive element is disposed in the same superconducting loop as the at least two Josephson junctions.

A superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) for mobile applications comprising: a superconducting flux transformer having a pickup coil and an input coil, wherein the input coil is inductively coupled to a Josephson junction; a resistive element connected in series between the pickup coil and the input coil so as to function as a high pass filter such that direct current (DC) bias current is prevented from flowing through the input coil; and a flux bias circuit electrically connected in parallel to the superconducting flux transformer between the pickup coil and the input coil so as to reduce motion-induced noise.

A system is provided for use with an optical input signal for detecting a phase difference between a first RF signal having a first phase and a second RF signal having a second phase. The system includes and optical waveguide, a first optical resonant cavity, a first RF receiver, a second optical resonant cavity and a second RF receiver. The optical resonant cavities include a non-linear electro-optical material. The first RF receiver affects the first non-linear electro-optical material of the first optical resonant cavity. The second RF receiver affects the second non-linear electro-optical material of first optical resonant cavity. The optical waveguide outputs an optical output signal based on the optical input signal as modified by the first optical resonant cavity as affected by the first RF receiver receiving the first RF signal and as modified by the second optical resonant cavity as affected by the second RF receiver.

Resonantly-enhanced optical phase detection of RF signals in LiNBO3

First and second superconductive sensors receive an electromagnetic signal. The first and second superconductive sensors are spaced apart such that there is a phase difference between the electromagnetic signal as received at the first and second superconductive sensors. The first and second superconductive sensors output respective first and second voltage signals corresponding to the electromagnetic signal as received by the first and second superconductive sensors. A nonlinear detector detects a voltage difference between the first and second voltage signals and provides an output signal representing the detected voltage difference. The output signal corresponds to the phase difference between the electromagnetic signal as received at the first and second superconductive sensors.
