A tool changerwith a master halfand tool half. A securing mechanism has a claspand a cam. The claspsmove between a release position and a grasping position. In the grasping position, the masterand tool halvesare secured together with one another. The cammoves the claspsbetween the release and grasping positions. From a release position, the master halfengages the tool half. The master halfmoves laterally with respect to the tool half. This, in turn, moves the cam, and thus the clasps, from their release positions to their grasping positions. In the grasping position, the claspsgrasp the tool half, the cam locksin its grasping position and the masterand toolhalves secure with one another.
