A personal consumer product having an energy emitting element in selective electrical communication with a power source is provided. Thermal control circuitry is used to isolate the energy emitting element from the power source when a temperature of the energy emitting element exceeds a threshold. The thermal control circuitry includes a primary thermal control circuit and a redundant thermal control circuit. Methods for controlling the temperature of an energy emitting element of a personal consumer product are also provided.

A shaving razor system with a handle and a shaving cartridge mounted to the handle. A circuit board having an electrical switch in communication with a power source is positioned within the handle. A heating element is in electrical communication with the electrical switch. The heating element having a skin contacting surface. The heating element has a first pre-determined temperature and a second pre-determined temperature. The second predetermined temperature is at least two degrees Celsius different from the first pre-determined temperature.

An illumination level of a luminous element of a user interface for an electrical device is controlled by a processor driving the luminous element with a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) or other type of control signal that is calculated based on a) a signal corresponding to a desired time-varying illumination level of the luminous element to be perceived by a human observer and b) a nonlinear sensitivity relationship between an actual illumination level and a resulting illumination level perceived by a human eye, wherein the corresponding signal comprises an increasing sinusoidal-based ramp function and a decreasing sinusoidal-based ramp function.

The device includes wash cycle sensing system that controls the release of chemistry via temperature and water flow data measured during the current wash cycle and uses either a preprogrammed product release algorithm for new wash cycles or a modified product release algorithm based on wash cycle data previously stored in the data storage unit for repeated wash cycles.

The device includes a refill compartment receiving a multi-section refill including at least two cleaning composition sections divided by separable seams. The multi-section refill separates into individual cleaning composition sections during placement in the refill compartment that fall into the slots forming the refill compartment.
