The disclosed technology is generally directed to the conversion of text to tables. In one example of the technology, input text that includes at least three rows is received. A plurality of characteristics of the input text is determined. Each characteristic of the plurality of characteristics is associated with a uniformity between the rows of the input text. The plurality of characteristics includes at least one characteristic that is associated with a delimiter count. A determination is made as to whether the input text is suitable for conversion to table based on the plurality of characteristics. Upon determining that the input text is suitable for conversion to a table, a machine learning model is used to convert the input text into a table.

A system and method for identifying relevant content from other documents and presenting candidate documents/content in a document authoring application is described. A computer-implemented method includes performing an analysis of text of a document being authored by a user with a document authoring application, searching a document library for content elements and documents based on the analysis of the text, identifying candidate documents and candidate content based on the searching, presenting a list of candidate documents or candidate content with the document authoring application, receiving a selection of a candidate document or candidate content from the list in the document authoring application, and including an instance of the selected candidate document or candidate content in the document.

Collaborative content recommendation platform

A system and method for aggregating and tracking content is described. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method includes forming a consolidated graphical user interface that tracks activities related to a project identifier. The project identifier identifies aggregated content. A project search query is received on the consolidated graphical user interface. The system identifies the project identifier based on the project search query, and presents at least one of a content item, a file, a folder, a user identifier, a user message, a meeting identifier, and a website identifier associated with the project identifier. The system registers selected items with the project identifier with a user of the consolidated graphical user interface, and forms the aggregated content assigned to the project identifier and to the user based on the registered selection.

In an implementation, one or more computers, employing a change visualization process, maintain a record of changes made to a document over a period of time. The one or more computers identify a document scope within which to focus a visualization of one or more changes made to the document, wherein the document scope comprises a timeframe of interest. The one or more computers also identify, from the record of the changes, one or more changes made to the document within the document scope and surface a visualization of the one or more changes.

A document modification event management system for notification of specific edits made to electronic content items, and a method of determining the relevance of the modification. As an example, a first user may make an edit to a portion of a document. A second user may receive a notification of this edit if the system determines the edit was relevant to the second user. In addition, during review of an electronic content item, a reader may select a specific portion of content and view the modifications that have occurred to only the selected portion. These tools can provide collaborative document users the ability to more readily monitor document development and stay up-to-date with changes that are important to them.

System and method for managing notifications of document modifications

The techniques describe a tool that finds people to help answer a question that arises while a user is consuming content of a file. As the user consumes the content, the techniques identify a signal that indicates an issue (e.g., a question). The signal can be added or somehow inserted into the underlying content of the file based on user input. The techniques determine a portion of the content associated with the signal. The portion of the content, along with any other information provided via the user input, is analyzed to determine a context of the issue. For example, natural language processing techniques can parse text or speech to understand the subject matter. The techniques then access a resolution resource (e.g., a professional network) to identify people that are likely capable of providing assistance, and the people are suggested to the user.

Suggesting people qualified to provide assistance with regard to an issue identified in a file

To reduce the latency introduced by network communications, the access rights to digital content of various users is locally cached, and such a local cache is referenced without incurring network communication latency. The local cache is predictive in that it can comprise users which a user editing the digital content is more likely to reference in the future, thereby triggering a determination as to whether such users have access rights to the digital content. The predictive aspects of the local cache are informed by a social graph delineating relationships between a user editing the digital content and other users. The social graph can be further refined based on metadata about the digital content, or based on the digital content itself. In addition to comprising users who have access rights to the digital content, the local cache can also comprise users that have been determined to not have access rights.

Implementations of enhanced content collaboration technology are disclosed herein. In an implementation, a collaboration service determines which collaboration commands to surface in association with each user in a list of users collaborating on a document. The collaboration commands are selected based on each user's collaboration state. The service updates local applications with information indicative of the user state, so that the local applications may surface a user-specific, collaboration state-driven selection of commands.

Systems, methods, and software are disclosed herein for enhancing the awareness of the activity of others in a collaboration group. In an implementation, a contact that identifies a person is displayed in a user interface to an application. A determination is made whether the person is in a collaboration group with a user of the application. If so, a further determination is made whether that person is presently active in a content item in a context other than the present context of the user. When such conditions are satisfied, an indication is surfaced in the user interface that the person is active in the content item.
