A transport refrigeration system is provided including a refrigeration unit and a diesel engine powering the refrigeration unit. The diesel engine has an exhaust system for discharging engine exhaust from the diesel engine. An exhaust treatment unit is disposed in the diesel engine exhaust system and includes a diesel oxidation catalyst and a diesel particulate filter. An air control valve is configured to control a quantity of air provided to the diesel engine from an air supply fluidly coupled to the diesel engine. A controller is operably coupled to the air control valve. After initiating regeneration of the diesel particulate filter, the controller is configured to operate the system in either a primary regeneration mode or a secondary regeneration in response to a condition monitored within the exhaust treatment unit.

A transport refrigeration unit includes a combustion engine system having a turbo-charger constructed and arranged to receive air in a cold state and expel the air in a compressed hot state, an evaporator, and a defrost heat exchanger constructed and arranged to receive the air in the compressed hot state and expel the air in a compressed cooled state for defrosting the evaporator. In operation, the unit may be capable of controlling a defrost temperature and/or controlling the temperature of the air entering a combustion engine of the engine system for combustion by controlling the volume of air flow between the defrost heat exchanger and a charge air cooler of the engine system.

A second inductive charging pad is mounted on the tractor, the second inductive charging pad electrically connected to a portion of the tractor and configured to induce an electrical current in the first inductive charging pad. The first inductive charging pad and the second inductive charging pad are configured such that the second charging pad can induce and maintain the electric current in the first inductive charging pad throughout a range of relative rotation.

The method includes controlling, using a controller, a first plurality of components of a refrigeration unit, wherein controlling comprises operating a prime mover and an electric generation device. The method also includes operating, using a controller, the prime mover at a selected high speed. The method further includes monitoring, using a controller, a plurality of operating parameters of the refrigeration unit, wherein at least one of the operating parameters is at least one of a voltage of the electric generation device and a speed of the prime mover. The method yet further includes comparing, using a controller, the voltage of the electric generation device to a selected voltage. The method also includes comparing, using a controller, the speed of the prime mover to a selected speed.
