Surgical implant

A surgical instrument comprises a member defining a first longitudinal axis and being connectable with an image guide via a lock for orientation relative to a sensor to communicate a signal representative of a position of a spinal implant connected with the member. A rod is disposable in a co-axial orientation with the member and is engageable with the spinal implant and rotatable via an actuator to fix the spinal implant with the member. Systems, implants, spinal constructs and methods are disclosed.

Surgical instrument and method

An expandable spinal implant is provided having first and second endplates hinged along one end or otherwise connected by pins, protrusions and channels, or similar mechanisms and an expansion mechanism(s) disposed therebetween configured to expand the first and second endplates from each other. Also provided are expandable spinal implants that may be expanded in a parallel manner to increase the height of the device while maintaining a lordotic angle. Other spinal implants may provide dual expansion whereby both height and lordotic angle are adjusted. Various implants, systems and methods are disclosed.

Expandable spinal implant system and method of using same

A surgical device is provided. The surgical device includes a tubular outer shaft having a longitudinal axis and an angled guide positioned on a first end of the surgical device. The angled guide may be angled relative to the longitudinal axis of the outer shaft. The surgical device includes an elongated inner shaft having a second end and a third end. The inner shaft is removably coupled to the outer shaft and configured to axially translate through the outer shaft. The surgical device includes pivotal device having at least one joint and an access tool. The at least one joint may be pivotally coupled to the third end of the inner shaft and to an end of the access tool. The pivotal device may be configured to axially translate through the angled guide into a deployed position.

Medical access device

A spinal construct comprises a fastener including a first portion defining an implant cavity and a second portion configured to penetrate tissue. A member defines a cavity configured for disposal of at least a portion of the first portion. The member includes an implant engaging surface fixable within the implant cavity and connected to a connecting element fixable adjacent the first portion. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

Spinal implant system and method

An instrument includes a sleeve extending between proximal and distal ends. The sleeve defines a passageway. The proximal end includes an aperture extending into an outer surface of the sleeve. The distal end includes an engagement surface and an opening extending through the engagement surface. The opening is in communication with the passageway. A member is movably disposed in the aperture. The member includes a spring and a body. The body defines a bore. A shaft extends between opposite proximal and distal ends. The proximal end of the shaft extends through the bore. The distal end of the shaft extends through the opening. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

A spinal implant includes a distal portion configured for penetrating tissue. A proximal portion includes a drive surface, a guide surface and a retention surface. The surfaces being disposed in a serial configuration. The retention surface is engageable with a surface of a surgical instrument to define a retention interface. Instruments, systems, constructs and methods are disclosed.

Surgical instrument and methods of use

An apparatus for implementing a spinal fixation system with supplemental fixation includes a spinal fixation rod assembly and at least one supplemental fixation device. The spinal fixation rod assembly is adapted to provide primary fixation at a plurality of first fixation points by being secured to a plurality of first vertebral components except not into one of the first vertebral components of the plurality that is in a weakened structural condition and located between other of the first vertebral components of the plurality. The supplemental fixation device is adapted to provide supplemental fixation for the assembly at a second fixation point by being secured to a second vertebral component located adjacent to and offset from the one first vertebral component in the weakened structural condition and also to interconnect with the assembly to provide anchorage and thus additional fixation supplemental to the primary fixation.
