A non-limiting exemplary embodiment of a winch includes a bearing housing, a one way bearing having an outer ring attached to the bearing housing, a bearing hub having a cylindrical section attached to an inner ring of the one way bearing, a friction disk having a first surface adjacent a disc of the bearing hub, a crank spool having a first disk adjacent a second surface of the friction disk, a crank housing configured for rotatably retaining the crank spool, a crank shaft extending through the bearing hub, through the friction disk, and into the crank spool, wherein a first end of the crank shaft is coupled to the crank spool, and a crank mechanism coupled to a second end of the crank shaft.

A cut-on-contact broadhead having a plurality of deployable blades rotatably coupled to a surface of a ferrule, and a plurality of channels disposed on the surface of the ferrule. At least a portion of each channel is defined at least in part by at least a portion of the ferrule and at least a portion of at least one of the plurality of blades. Each blade includes a tip, an impact shoulder, and a first and second cutting edges. During flight, the blades are in a fully retracted configuration forming a distal tip having sharp cutting edges defined at least in part by the first cutting edges of the blades. Upon impact, the distal tip initiates a bore in the target, the plurality of blades deploy into a swept-back configuration, and the second cutting edges expand and lengthen the bore initiated by the distal tip.

A cut-on-contact broadhead having a ferrule and a plurality of deployable blades pivotally coupled to the ferrule. The ferrule includes a plurality of recesses, and at least one protrusion extending away from a surface of one or more of the plurality of recesses. Each of the plurality of blades includes a tip, an impact region, a first cutting edge, and a second cutting edge. During flight, the blades are in a fully retracted configuration forming a chisel tip having cutting edges defined at least in part by the first cutting edge of each blade. Upon impact, the plurality of blades are deployed into a swept-back configuration whereby the second cutting edges expand the bore initiated by the chisel tip.

A cut-on-contact broadhead having a plurality of deployable blades. Each of the plurality of blades is pivotally coupled to a ferrule configured for attaching the broadhead to a shaft of an arrow or a bolt. Each of the plurality of blades includes a tip, an impact region, a first cutting edge, and a second cutting edge. During flight, blades are in a fully retracted state forming a distal tip of the broadhead having sharp cutting edges defined at least in part by the first cutting edges of the blades. Upon impact, the distal tip of the broadhead creates a bore in the target. As the broadhead penetrates the target, the plurality of blades are deployed into a swept-back configuration exposing the second cutting edge of each blade. The second cutting edges expand the bore initiated by the distal tip of the broadhead and create a passage in the target.

A safety device for a crossbow includes a wrist strap with a crank aperture in a palm portion thereof, and is secured around a user's wrist with the crank aperture over the palm of the user's hand. The crank aperture allows passage therethrough of a shaft of a crossbow crank, but prevents passage of a handle; wearing the wrist strap, the user can grasp the handle with the shaft extending through the crank aperture away from the palm of the user's hand. The wrist strap can be divided at its dorsal-wrist portion and include a closure to allow the wrist strap to be secured around or removed from the user's wrist as desired. Restraint of the crank handle by the crank aperture prevents uncontrolled spinning of the crossbow crank.

An inventive mechanism includes stationary, reciprocating, winch, and stock subassemblies. The winch subassembly is mounted on the stock subassembly; the stationary subassembly is mounted at the rear of a slotted mainframe of the stock subassembly; the reciprocating subassembly moves along the mainframe between forward brace and rearward drawn positions. The winch subassembly takes up a rope to cause rearward movement of the reciprocating subassembly and lets out the rope to permit forward movement. The reciprocating subassembly includes a body engaged with the slot, a catch, and a sear. The stationary subassembly includes a trigger and an actuator. In the drawn position and retaining a bowstring, trigger movement causes actuator movement, which causes sear movement, which permits catch movement, which releases the bowstring. In its latched position, a trigger latch obstructs forward movement of the reciprocating subassembly from the drawn position; in its unlatched position, it permits that forward movement.
